From what i have heard these trails are about 20 yrs old but hardly anybody rides them. i don't think they are supposed to be a secret, i just think not too many people know about them or don't want to drive there. its ony about a half hour from ashland/talent. they are way cool. the wagner creek water shed is not protected like the ashland atershed. therefore it is a bit trashed. lots of logging, engine blocks and rednecks. but the area with the trails is pristine. because the trails are not used so much they get a little overgrown, but i and others have done some work to help out. i think more people riding it would make them better. the trails are tight and twisty. you get a lot of miles for your vertical feet and there is some built stuff, nothing extreme, just some little jumps and bridges over creeks (the gaps in the bridges is to keep the motos out. hopefully more will be built in the future.
the trails - once you find it just go down and stay on the main trail. lots of switch backs and some jumps and bridges and it is tight! not too rocky though. after about 20-30 min you will hit a road. if you ride up the road it will take you back to the cattleguard area with the Y. or you can cross and go down more. the trails are signed (stump trail, jesse trail etc. but by who i don't know) if you go down there are more trails that split off just go down and you won't get lost. after about 30 mins of decending you hit another road which is 2250 you can just ride up this back to the cattle guard and Y. or from here you can cross the road and follow the trail even more along the creek. i'm not sure how long it goes but the concept is the same. it comes out to a road and you can ride back up to your car. the trails are way different than ashland which make them fun. email me if you want to ride: singletrackslut@msn.com
if you're mad i posted this and think i spoiled the secret i'm sorry let me know and we can try to get it removed or we can ride together.
from hiway 99 in Talent take rapp road to Wagner creek road. drive wagner creek road about 5-7 miles till it turns to dirt. drive another 5-7 miles staying on the main road (NFD 22) until you cross a yellow cattle guard (the only one) and reach a fork in the road. NFD 2250 goes right towards applegate and NFD 22 goes left towards wagner butte and Mt. ashland. i usually park here and ride up but you can shuttle. you will want to head left at the fork and head towards the wagner butte trailhead about 2-3 mile up. pass the wagner butte trailhead parking lot and proceed another 1/4 mile. at a sharp left turn in the road the trail begins on the right side down the slope across from a wooden drainage grate. look close! and llok for the wooden grate
Summary: I have ridden this trail(read area, because there are many trails here) a couple of times now and it's by far my favorite in this Southern Oregon. It has something for everyone with experience. I found it to be technical and challenging. Pretty tight, and sometimes twisty trail, but in good shape. Looked like there were a few stunts here and there, jumps here and there, rocks and other obsticles. I look forward to exploring this trail system more. I hope this will not be considered an Illegal Trail, as I heard recently the forest service was going to crack down and destroy these kinds of trails(doesn't make a bit of sense to me???)
Recommended Route: Park at the Wagner trailhead, and shuttle if you like, otherwise you are in for a climb on a loose gravel road.
Other recommended trails in the same area: Just explore, read the other reviews for more great info.

Summary: The trail is very steep right at the beginning and lots of tech stuff going on for the first 1/2 mile of the trail than it turn into a very good ride.
Starts out as a single track and goes to logging road than back to a single track.
Some logging going in the area at this time, but should be out of there by fall.
Some what of a driving up,(9+ miles) but worth the new ride.
Recommended Route: Parking at Wagon butt trail head is the good place to park if this the first time on this trail.
Go up the hill about 1/4 mile or less and you will see a steep single track on the down hill side of the road.
Other recommended trails in the same area: Applegate lake
Lost Creek Lake
Elk Lane

Summary: This place is truly a hidden gem. Single trek all the way until you have to climb back out (ouch!), but well worth it. I did not see a soul here when I rode this in late August one Saturday. Lots of work done here by some mtn bike entheusiasts. Big bridges, jumps, arches. Some very tight hairpin turns. As far as beauty, this place is Nirvana! Amazing how the loggers have shredded the Siskyous and left this place intact. I'm afraid to reveal too much as this place may go the way of the legendary Time Warp which was decommisioned by the forest service as an illegal trail.

Summary: See the first post for this trail for a desc. Just rode it for the first time, and it was awesome! As advertised...Great climb-to-single-track ratio, a few bridges and creek crossings, a few technical sections.
I will definitely go back for more!
Recommended Route: Follow the directions above.

Summary: This is one of the best trail systems in Oregon. It has everything. If you start at the middle parking spot, you climb about 3 miles (half hour)than you mostly desend for about 2 hours. Theres little jumps, switch backs long decends. You ride through old grouth and through logged area's. I have even seen a bear in there. At the end of the ride you climb back up to the car, about half an hour. Well worth checking out these trails. The only thing I recomend is that you bring some one who know the system for the first time through. Ith would be really easy to take a wrong trail and end up at the bottom and miss some great riding
