starts off with a lot of broken beer bottles go to the top till you see them powerlines this trail has four fingers all of the fingers are off this powerline trial ,stay to the left and looks towards smith rd. there is a finger in those bushes, i like to stay on this fire rd and go over a 1000ft bluff over looking columbia river and mt.st.helens, I keep going towards deer island go past columbia meadows the site of rockfest8.0 lots of single tracks some dead ends and very fast fire roads, not too much climbing for you light weights. lots of new places to ride so i better get out here.
drive out past st.helens on hwy 30 west to columbia city then turn left at the cj's minimart(smith rd) straight past 6th st. 4way. go up dirt rd about a 1/2 mi. first gate on the right go ahead and park in front of the gate.
Summary: Ride up smith road and take the first yellow gate on your right go up the hill and follow the power lines to the right (left takes you into a wall of blackberries) take a left at the first trail follow that as long as you'ed like it ends up by canon rd. I live in Columbia city so i go up there quite a bit and the second time you ride there look for some obscure trails just going off... thats us and if you don't know whare to look i bet you never find them but its and adventure right? :)
Other recommended trails in the same area: Rocky Point is much better for DH it has some pretty nice trails that run down to highway 30

Summary: As a newer rider, and a little history on this trail I can tell you that there is ALOT of up hill, it was much easier 15 years ago, but once you get to the top it's worth it. when you get to the top of the road under the powerlines GO LEFT!!!! the road at this point is a 4-way intersection, if you go straight you will end up at a dead end in the middle of black berries. Turn left and the road kinda doubles backs for a short bit but it turns around and continues north. from what I remember there is ALOT of down hill and it's VERY fast. you will end up at a gate on Canon Rd., take a left and you'll end up at Hwy 30. Check out Hankey Rd. powerline trail as well.
Recommended Route: Park in Columbia City at the CJ market and ride up to the trail head, it's the first gate on the right.
Other recommended trails in the same area: Hankey Rd Powerline

Summary: long up hill , keep going until you come to a downhill, take a left turn at the bottom of the first hill, you can keep going straight up the power lines to columbia meadows concert site but take this left for a long single track, very fun in the winter time, muddy, muddy, muddy there was some black berries to deal with, trust me it does come out at the top, i just like to turn around and go back down the single track and the fire road together make for a long decent which is worth the climb and dealing with the black berry bushes, there is more stuff out there, and many dead ends just keep looking and write me an e-mail if you find more trails to ride on, this is here to stay, the motorcycle riders leave this trail alone because it to close to the city i guess
Recommended Route: same as all the other gates smith road!@
Other recommended trails in the same area: the north face of maple mountain and pinkey road off canon in deer island, and also but not least rocky point by the weigh station on hwy 30 that takes you along west cascades and will have to look at some maps before going there, gunners lake too!
