Ridden Trail: Ridden Once

Racer Summary: Awesome. Starts with some basically flat fire road, then a small climb, then downhill singletrack all the way! Ends with some technical sections that are pretty steep. Trail work would be nice, because some areas are relatively overgrown, but not unreadable. Otherwise, just a beautiful ride with many types of obstacles, but its fast, really fast. Recommended Route: Follow the Scenic Byway along the Rogue, till you come to the turnoff for the Wildhorse lookout. Follow that road till you come to a junction called "the chicken foot." Follow the signs to the Pine Grove Trail. After the initial descent on fire road, the trail continues straight, not left. It was unclear when I rode it and I almost turned back. It's best to end the ride at Spud road, if you keep going the trail starts to get too overgrown to ride. Other recommended trails in the same area: The Lower Rogue River Trail, if it wasn't impassible with blackberry bushes

Ridden Trail: Every few months

, from Starkville, MS Summary: There are senic vistas and park like sugar pine groves near the top. The single track along the way has rather steep, but grassy, sides, in most places. There are three rather steep, but short places near the roads at the bottom. Walk these, if you feel uncomfortable with the looks of these places. All in all this is a very pleasant and not too demanding trail -- especially if one has a car drop. Otherwise, this is a rather good workout.
Recommended Route: Either start at the trailhead as described or start at the beginning of Forest Road 3318 and pedal 6 miles to the trailhead. One can do a loop if one has the time or strength to do whole 20 plus miles. One can park at the trailhead which is near the bridge crossing the Illinois River and ride down the Rogue River on Highway 33 for approx. 8 miles, then grind 6 miles up Forest Service Road 3318 before reaching the single track, then zip down to your car at the bridge. Other recommended trails in the same area: Pine Grove Trail and Lower Rogue River Trail (when it has been worked over)
