Cross Country Rider Summary: 15 mile trail - this is a very nice ride and all but it is a bit over rated here on mtbr.com There are several other trails in the area of FS Rd 44 (not 49 as listed by another reviewer) that are equal if not better. Sure 15 mile is longer but basically it is just a honking descent with a slog back out - several other rides (8-mile, kneble, high prairie offer more variation and similar amounts of descent especialy if linked together into one ride. Don't get me wrong, 15 mile is a great ride just don't let it over shadow the other rides nearby which I like better because they tend to be more evenly spread out over the route as far as climbs and descents go. Recommended Route: from Hood River - hwy 35 south to FS Rd 44 - left up 44 follow to 8 mile trail head - beging short climb across from 8 mile trailhead and follow signs . . .enjoy Other recommended trails in the same area: kneble springs, 8 mile, surveyors, gunsight, dog river

Cross Country Rider Summary: One of the best trails in the Hood River area. But, it's like going into credit card debt; it's really fun at first, but a friggin' beast to pay it off in the end. Start at the Knebal Springs/Bottle Prairie trailhead and cross the road. Best in the Fall. Recommended Route: Down first, then up. The only way. Other recommended trails in the same area: Knebal Springs/Bottle Prairie/8 mile, Surveyor's Ridge, High Prairie

Cross Country Rider Summary: Trail is in good condition right now. Not one puddle, down tree, or dust could be found. I would suggest getting on this trail within the next couple of weeks before the "dust bowl" becomes an issue. This holds true for Kneebal Springs, 8-mile, and High Prairie.

, from beaverton Summary: Great trail, epic views and 21.5 miles of singletrack. The law applies here, what goes down, must come up. You've got some serious grinding out of 15 mile creek. A must for all serious MTN Bikers. Best to ride in the fall or the first 2 to 3 weeks after snowmelt. We rode it in early August and the dust was 3 to 4 inches deep. Like climbing through sand. This is the toughest ride in this area, If you love epics do it. If you don't like to climb, don't. Recommended Route: Start from Knebal Springs/8 mile trailhead @ Fr 120.Cross FR 44 and Start climbing up trail 450 heading up to High Prairie. when you get to the Y, head left to Fifteen Mile creek campground on trail 456(stay to the right and end up @ High Prairie) Continue climbing, after about 3 or 4 miles reach a high point at a cliff of rock formations. then descend into 15 mile campground. the trail starts at the toilet. take tr 456 descending somemore for another .5 mile. when you come to tr 457 take it and cross the creek. after 5 miles and a great descent you end up at 15 mile creek. (Its gut check time) take tr 456 back to 15 mile campground which is another 5 miles. follow your route back to the trailhead. Other recommended trails in the same area: Surveyours Ridge, Gunsight Ridge, Knebal Springs/8 mile creek. High Praire, Dog river.

, from Portland Summary: I rode this bee-awtch once, and it kicked my sorry ass. I hurt real bad. Fun as all hell though. A true challenge. I don't even want to think about linking it up with the other trails in the area or I'd surely die. Recommended Route: down then up Other recommended trails in the same area: Knebal Springs to Surveyors Ridge to High Prairie to Eight Mile Creek.
