starts off as a fire rd. and you quickly see a couple trails on your left skip those because they are short and steep, keep riding till you start to decendig to the right, look for a trial on your left, i do belive it is the forth left you can take, has lots of tight singletrack that you can get lost in there, there is an intersection up on top, two trials go down hill three go uphill, use the fire trials as refrence points there is a lake called salmon berry that is not in the map. lots of motocross trials too, but is illegal
from portland take hwy 30 to st-helens, then left on pittsburg rd. proceed to you see a minimart on the left, then you come to a hard right bend, you are now at yanton elementary go stay to the left and you should drive past cater and brinn, stay on brinn four about 1mi. going up a dirt rd. take either one left or right, I like to stay to the right and drive up to the last house, you should see a blue gate there.
Summary: this is the back way coming in, from salmon berry lake. it is a moto cross trail. right in the same area as d&b ragging trail. had lots of single track, markers a put along the trail, there is no way you can miss this one. goes in a slow downward decent under a canopy of trees. there is some creek crossing by some green shop at the bottom of the trail. this is one of the longer trails that i've been on, so bring it, lots of hills but mostly a well traveled trail by many moto cross riders, so have some fun and share the road, you see, the gate is closed at the lake so this is the back way in for many people hedding for the lake. by the way pretty good fishing.
Recommended Route: take the salmon berry exit off pittsburge road then cross the gate then go straight past the lake ,stay to the left . look for a creek which has a left turn into a single track. fire road goes up, single track has a decent and has markers of 12 ounce bottles, and someone has cut all the fallen tress
Other recommended trails in the same area: pinkey road to d&b raving trail, and dart creek to maple mountain and see the top of peak with views of the columbia river.

Summary: starts off with good climb, once you cross the blue gate it levels off for a short breather, as it starts to decend look for it at 10 o"clock single track in good condition ,all up hill until you reach the top, go straight across 4-way lots of down hill and many ways to find your way back out there, take a map or leave markers to find your way back
Recommended Route: same as above, you can park at the bottom
by the creek and go up 4x4 trail for more muddy expeirence
Other recommended trails in the same area: trail around salmon berry lake, many obsticales and water ruts this 2.5 mi single track, if you can make it all the way around with out dis-mounting you are good

Summary: getting there by car was half the fun, for a good day of riding try this mountain
top. i found all kinds of single track up there, and the air up there is like in the clouds, look for the single track less than a half mile or so.. going to 11o'clock heading, barely big enough for a qaud racer. serpintine all the way to the top where there is lots of choices, but proceed straight across, then single track towards 2 o'clock down hill for good ride and dumps you off on fire road, go right on that fire road until you see a very questionable turn off at 8 0'clock
and it is a single track that puts back about a mile of fire road back to blue gate , then on the way back hit the last right turn before blue gate. oh if it is muddy you might wipe out in the deep ruts and tire holes dugged out by the hill climbers. will dump you off at the bottom of a creek, turn left and follow the way back to the car.
Recommended Route: same as above. look at at msn.com at maps and type in 97018 as a zip
Other recommended trails in the same area: all kinds of four wheel up pittsburg past trenholme, even a mx park non-invites are welcome on new years day for the big drinking morning madness festivals of mud runners of all makes
