Summary:
The trail has taken a beating from logging. I would guess that there is only about 60-70% of the single track left (maybe 4-5 miles) of the original race course, and unless you ride it with someone who knows the area or have several hours to explore you probably won't find all the singletrack. What is there is fast and smoothe and considering there's not much else in the area, not a bad place to ride. The short educational loop that is mike miller park is pretty tecnical, but short (~1mile) and probably not intended for bikes (although not posted). If you can get good directions (the directions below won't be good enough to find all of the trails) then it's worth a ride if your in the area. I probaly would have rated the trail a 4 If I had ridden it before the area had been logged.

Recommended Route:
Take 101 South over the bridge and the road for mike miller park will be on your left 1.5 miles south of the bridge. Park at the educational trail and continue riding up the paved road (past the fence) until you get to the water treatment plant. There will be a trail directly in front of you the heads into the woods. There are a couple of options to go left on this trail, but I stayed right. This trail (double track) is about a mile long and is well maintained for about half of it. It will T into a logging road where you will take a right and go about a mile until you get to a 3-way fork. The middle fork turns into a single track (over a bridge) and spits out about a mile up the the left fork. You will want to ride this trail down as it is fast and fun. If you take the right fork this will also take you to some single track but unless you know the area you will probably take some wrong turns. You can actually take the right fork and make a loop of it via the left fork and ending up on the middle fork. It's too confusing to try and explain here. Fortunately I ran in to a local who rides the are all the time. The only bike shop in town may have a newer map.

Other recommended trails in the same area:
None. Doesnt seem like there is much in the way of mt. bike trails in or around Newport.

Summary:
I had heard these were awesome trails. I obtained a map from local bike shop of the coast hills classic race. We rode 12 miles only found one trail head. The is some fresh logging going on so don't use this map. I won't return unless a local wants to take me. NIce climbs and scenary on logging/dirt roads.

Recommended Route:
1 mile south of the bridge. Mike Miller Educational Trail. Park and ride towards the sewer plant. Nasty

Summary:
This trail is a lot of fun to ride! It has some very fast and technical single track, along with some steep gravel hills that you can go pretty fast down. A lot of this trail is really muddy in the winter, but it is awesome in the summer. I really suggest this trail to anyone who gets a chance to ride it! Have fun!!!

I thought the ride was good a little muddy tough. In the spring the first quarter mile is gravel and then you hit a half mile of mudd. After that it is alot single track.
