Cross Country Rider Summary: This is a great ride with a variety of riding. Some up, but mostly down (shuttled it from timpanogas lake), some technical, but mostly smooth. I give a 4 for technical because of the upper section, the lower section I'd give a 3. Even though it's mostly down, if you ride the whole ~32 miles you'll be pretty wiped (unless you're in real good shape). There's a 2 mile section that inlcudes numerous stream/bog crossings that keep you off the bike most of the time, and almost made me rate the trail 4 instead of 5 stars. There is a horse trail that bypasses about half of this section that I would take next time. We rode the trail in early july so it (the wet part) may not be as bad later in the summer. Overall I consider it a must do ride that ranks up there with waldo lake. A light medium travel bike would be ideal. Recommended Route: Shuttle to the top of the trail near Timpanogas lake and park at one of the take out points down river. I think we finished at sand prarie. I would probably quit a few miles upstream next time. Other recommended trails in the same area: Waldo
Upper Alpine is good, lower is OK.
Moon pt./youngs rock is OK.
Lots of other riding in the area
