Swampy Lakes Loop
4 reviews
 3.25 of 5

Decent intermediate, rolling terrain with only a couple of very short (15 foot ) climbs. Rocky in spots, couple of log crossings. Nice meandering single through pines with a couple of views of the lake. Short loop ending up on a fire road (rutted !!! ) for a gnarly quick downhill.

Summary:
hmm i rode this trail from the skyliners snopark parking lot towards tumalo falls then took the swede ridge loop to the south fork trail. the climb was 7/8 miles so it wasnt too bad but the descent on the south fork trail was rockin. it was very fast with a lot of drops, jumps, roots, etc. the turns were bermed so you kept your momentum. this was my first ride in the bend area and am sure to return to see what else this area has to offer.

Recommended Route:
the one i just described

Summary:
I agree, Swampy Lakes loop is no big deal...pretty enough scenery, easy trail. However, it does represent a great way to link into the surrounding area, which is off the charts.
The fun begins when you leave the loop and start downhill through the trees towards South Fork trail and some of the other connecting trails. You will find lots of very technical stuff with rocks, roots, off cambers etc. Your ride will ultimately be limited only by your endurance, the trails go on all the way to the Three Sisters, miles away.
I'm giving this trail 3 fatties, simply because it allows you to access so much terrain!

Recommended Route:
Stage at Swampy Lakes SnoPark. Don't just ride the wimpy loop trail, go explore some of the wicked trails around and about within the area! Get a map at LBS!

Other recommended trails in the same area:
Mrezak trail, Tumalo Falls, Helicopter Pad.

I agree with the previous review, people here rave about these Oregon Trails....I really dont know why unless they have not ridden anywhere else. Bend is a little overrated. I am spoiled ....Tahoe rocks.

Summary:
Fun short trail with a decent little downhill at the end. In the pines the entire time, a couple of log crossings, some short little uphills, no real big climbs, a great place for your first single track experience. Can be tight and windy if you ride it fast. Outhouse in the parking lot, great trail for beginner to intermediate, nice little lake. Loose dirt, some rock...run slightly lower tire pressure.

Recommended Route:
Start at the ski parking lot and ride it backwards, taking the trail on the left, makes for a fun downhill back to the truck.

Other recommended trails in the same area:
Check out the other park n ski areas !!!
