Ridden Trail: Ridden Once

, from Portland Summary: Had a pretty good day at this trail. Went on a weekday and didn't run into any hikers on the entire trail. There are no major downhills but its a pretty zippy trail anyways. I would recommend bringing a patchkit and extra tubes because there were plenty of lava rocks to gouge your tires. I'm giving the trail 4 tires only because Idon't care for the loose surface and sand, otherwise it would get 5 tires. Recommended Route: Start at Sparks Lake and follow the trail to Lava Lake. Then take the higway back to the Sparks Lake trailhead. Other recommended trails in the same area: Phil's Trail

, from Redmond, OR Summary: Hmmm...how to explain it..mainly what I remember was the lava rock that gobbled up my knobbys. From Sparks to Lava Lake the terrain is nice and rolling. Nothing demanding and a nice out and back. For added duration and a demanding endurance ride, turn left at Lava Lake and climb back to Edison Snopark. This is a grueling uphill that demands part of your soul. Serious rocks, loose terrain, and distance will make even the strongest rider crave a hammock. Very beautiful country with views of Bachelor. Expect fatigue, ripped up tires, and pure pleasure from this ride. http://photos.yahoo.com/kwltrack for photos of Lava Lake and other rides in Oregon. Ride hard or ride home....Kevin Recommended Route: Park at TH at Sparks Lake. Ride to Lava Lakes, follow signs to Edison Snopark. Best to have a vehicle at Edison. Shuttle to Sparks. Other recommended trails in the same area: Newberry Crater

, from Salem, OR Summary: I absoultely despise this trail! I did it at the end of the summer, the trail was either soft sand or solid lava rock. It's pretty much a hiking trail, not much uphill or downhill. And it is a long drive for not much of a ride. If you do this trail it is best early spring or late fall after some rain fall-just don't do it mid summer. Althought it is one of the most beatiful trails I've ever been on. Take the kids or someone and just make it a day hike Out and Back a few miles-enjoy the scenery Recommended Route: Get a map, or good directions there are a few ways to get lost on the trail Other recommended trails in the same area: Go back to Bend and ride the downhill trails from Bachelor to Bend ( about 30 miles of killer downhill)

, from Seattle Summary: This trail is awesome. The views of the South Sister, Mt Bachelor and the lake are incredible. Sometimes I take my girlfriend there and we just soak up the mountain air and talk about the parallel universe. I'm there right now. Other recommended trails in the same area: Paulina Peak, Edison Ice caves

, from Portland, OR Summary: we rode the trail from Lava Lakes north to sparks lake then back down and took a westerly trail around Elk lake then back to our campsite. This was a very fun trail with a little bit of everything. Some nice views and the swimming in Sparks lake is great if you are HOT !!!. The trail was a bit pummy in sections but as there is no real tough spots so it makes for a nice half day juant. The trail that spurs west and goes around elk lake is a little more fun and scenic. If you would like to see pictures check out http://home.earthlink.net/~southfork Recommended Route: found this trail by accident while camping Other recommended trails in the same area: deschutes river trail
