Ridden Trail: Every few months

Weekend Warrior Summary: Pretty fun singletrack loop around the lake. You will be on the road in a few places, but not for long. A few climbs and descents to keep the heart rate up. Recommended Route: Park anywhere, look for a trailhead and start riding. I ride it CW. When the trail dumps you out on a road, continue on and look for the next trailhead. Other recommended trails in the same area: Browns Camp, at the summit of HWY 6.

Cross Country Rider Summary: Hit this trail three weeks ago. Trail was rutted out in most sections, especially the open areas. The forested sections weren't all that bad; lots of leaves on the ground made for some slips and slides. Trail is about 15 miles long and it took me three hours to finish, since I had to spend so much time clearing the mud from my tires, chainstay, pulleys and cogs. Any incline was made near impossible due to the absolute lack of traction. Tons of blackberries and standing pools of water (some up to a foot deep) made this trip hell. But it was the first outing since I seperated my shoulder, so it was still fun. I have a feeling this trail is awesome in the summer, but right now, there's just too much gunk on the tracks. Recommended Route: Clockwise.

Cross Country Rider Summary: Went this week end and had a very good time. I also recommend wearing at least long sleeves because the blackberries will make you look like an angry teenager when your friends see you at their BBQ.
Watch those puddles to, I locked my front wheel in one of them and fell head first in the mud.
If you get tired, you can get back on the paved road and go home quickly, just dont pretend you can moutain bike afterwards though. Recommended Route: Clockwise

Weekend Warrior Summary: ******** WARNING!!! POISON OAK ALERT!!! **********
I went two weeks ago with a friend (May 28th 2005). Its not too technical, but it was fun with lots of mud and some small drops. There are a lot of blackberry bushes though and by the end my arms were covered in scratches. But I thought it was worth it because we had a great time. That is until two days later when the poison oak rash started showing up. Both my friend and I had poison oak all over our legs. My friend was wearing a long sleeve shirt but I got it on my arms and right under my eye!! It still itches like crazy. Needless to say we are looking for other options with similar trails. I strongly recommend to anyone thinking about riding here to wear long pants and a long sleeve shirt or to avoid this place until the trails are cleared.

Ridden Trail: Once a month

Cross Country Rider Summary: This is a fun 15 mile jaunt, with lots of options for road or even big drops, if you're into that. The main trail is single-track, and is always going up/down or sideways. With the right attitude, you can have a blast here. Definitely need to be aware of blackberry pricks around every curve. Unlike many of the posts here, I much prefer the counter-clockwise direction around the lake. I've ridden it both ways now several times, and rarely encounter other riders during the week. I've never ridden it on a weekend, but assume it is probably more crowded.
If you want true single track with challenges within 30 minutes of PDX, this is a nice diversion. I like to make it a training ride. Currently, my best time is 98 minutes, and I've been able to best my previous time each time out. Just relax and enjoy, like MTB was intended. BTW, its $5 to park here (not $4 like several of the other posts have said).
Cheers! Recommended Route: Counter-clockwise!
