Summary:
Great single track if you know where your going! This place has amazing single track that is supposidly "hiking" trails only but we all share this place so we can all use it how we want.

Recommended Route:
25 miles of great single track if you start from fire lane 1, take nature trail down to leif erickson then turn left. Then turn left on firelane 2 climb up or hike up to wildwood then turn right. Just stay on wildwood from here to saltzmen rd. Cross saltzmen back onto wildwood, ride wildwood all the way to ridge trail then take ridge trail down to erickson, turn left out to german town then up to skyline turn left and your back to fire lane 1

Summary:
While visiting Portland I rode this trail since it was near where I was staying. Overall, it was disappointing, being primarily very easy gravel fire roads. There seem to be a lot of places where downhillers are skidding their own tracks down the side of the ridge. It looks like all the trails that would be really fun are illegal. As a visitor, it's not worth stopping by to ride these trails.

Summary:
FP is nice, thank you for the great park but this is a place that does not promote MTBing. Just compare Powell Butte with FP, Powell Butte is probably a 1/10 or less in dimension than FP but yet, Powell butte has way more singletrack and trails for MTB.

Recommended Route:
Thurman --> Firelane 1 --> Skyline --> Firelan 3 --> Thurman

Other recommended trails in the same area:
Brown's camp, Hagg lake, Three corners rock

Summary:
Much more sane than crawling up the Sunset (& you're not supporting terrorism). Good for the environ & heart. Be glad for a job that you can ride to. Be even more glad for a route to ride that isn't a concrete jungle. Any non-pavement riding available in an urban setting is a blessing. Enjoy it for what it is.

Recommended Route:
Commute from the westside! Drop down the closest firelane to Leif & take a right. Now you're in town. Earn dinero for 8 hours and reverse route back to your shag pad.

Other recommended trails in the same area:
For good dirt look elsewhere. A similar city-close trail system is McDonald Forest in Corvallis. (Better than Forest Park!)

Summary:
I'm sick of these idiots saying Forest Park sucks. Forest Park is the best network of trail inside the city limits of a major city. If you want great single track you'll have to drive outside portland thought. Forest Park is great for an after work ride or workout.

Recommended Route:
Explore all the firelanes especially on the north end of the park.

Other recommended trails in the same area:
Powell Butte
