Summary: Cape perpetua trails. This trail is not full of stunts, but the beginning has quite a few. There are teetering planks, many large berms, log rides, jumps, and drops. The rest of the trail is pretty relaxed, depending on what you make of it. There are many dips in the trail that you can jump, and some that form drops at the top of them. even though not very technical, some tree roots appear. basically, the beginning to the trail has many stunts, the rest of the trail is what you make of it. Overall I had a lot of fun and will go back many times. This is partly because i live near by and do not have other trails to ride, but its very fun.
Recommended Route: Instead of driving to the visitors center near cape perpetua, drive up the road leading to the actual cape (if not finding the signs on the road, ask for help at the visitors center). keep to the right many miles up the road. Once you hit a point along the road at which to the left of you is a cliff side keep your eyes open. You will soon be seeing a trail leading up the right of the mountain, this is the trail you will need to begin walking up to reach the bike trail. keep heading up this trail until you find a point where a smaller trail leads upward to your left and take this trail. At the end of this trail you will find the bike trail with a teetering log at the beginning. There are many openings to the end of the trail, which trails you exit off of is up to you (there are signs describing the trails splits).
Other recommended trails in the same area: Mainly just walking trails, but they are rideable and on downhill slopes.

Summary: The Cummins Creek Trail is one of the few trails at Cape Perpetua open to MTBs. While it isn't long it is fun. The trail snakes down a ridge through second growth forest, over rocks and roots. Parts of it can be technically challenging but it is do-able by most.
Recommended Route: There are three branches which the locals call Root, Rock, and Upper. The Upper trail has some fun stunts built by locals, you won't find these on the map, a local guide is the best way to find them. A lower hidden section I call the Scramble is a rootfest.
The other two branches are best ridden up the Rock and down the Root. You go in at the lower trailhead off HWY101 and keep left, eventually you'll head up a very steep loose rock filled single track, the rocks will keep shifting under you tires, your lungs will bust on this one. If you keep going up with out turning you'll hit the upper trailhead parking lot, this means you missed the turn which takes you down the Root trail. Head back down, maybe a quarter to a half mile, keeping right, keep your eyes open for a little sign lying in the trail, it will be on a curve to the left. Straight across the trail (on your right/west) from the sign is the carefully hidden trail. Its not a long downhill but as I said it is fun. It will lead you back to connect with the trail you came in on. If your watchful on the way out you'll see the Scramble trail taking off on your right as you head out. It a fun little diversion.

Summary: Good fast single track in the huge woods by the coast. Lots of climbing, and lots of downhill. Very fast, but not technical. Beginners stuff, some intermediate(maybe). Fun place to cool off when hot in the valley.
Recommended Route: Pick up a map at the cape perpetua visitors center.
