Bryce Creek

Sweet singletrack on meandering creekside trail. Lots of rocks. Some exposure. Moderately technical. This is an out and back, unless you decide to take the paved road all the way back (downhill and fun).

Summary:
This trail is short but sweet. You'll want to do it out and back to get a good workout. There are a few spots of exposure and some nice views down the hillside towards the creek far below. The climbs are not too bad and there is just enough roots and rocks to make it a bit challenging. The area is beautiful and lush. There is a really nice area of rock ledges along the creek that would be a great picnic spot. It's a little bit of a drive from Corvallis for such a short trail, but I think it was worth it and I'll be back next summer.

Recommended Route:
We had a hard time finding the trailhead, but it's next to a bridge and across from a construction equipment site. The Mountain Biking Oregon book has directions that are a bit off, but we managed to find it using them.

McKenzie River Trail

Summary:
This trail is is located in a beautiful area. There is nothing hard about this trail. In fact im a beginer and i was never scared. There are enough rocks and roots to make the trail fun...but very few places a person of adverage ability should have to get off and walk. I would however advise riders to control their speed on this trail as a trip over one of the cliffs might just be a life changing/ending experience. Bryce Creek is very scenic and a must ride. If your feeling strong and in need of a good workout try the waterfall trail. Im new to riding and in adverage physical condition. I would like to find some like people in the Sprinfield/Eugene area to ride with. So email me.

Recommended Route:
From the parking lot up the trail to the waterfall loop and back down. If time is a concern take the road down.

Other recommended trails in the same area:
try the Waterfall Trail for a good workout

Summary:
My reason for posting here is to say that we must ride responsibly cause a few stupid inexperianced bikers with poor skills are really starting to piss off some hikers and other bikers for that matter by riding out of control and degrading the sides of trail. Slow down, don't skid, show some respect or we're gonna loose this gim. Ride in control or this one will be gone soon, very soon. Hikers know who to call and what to say to ban us. I know a number of hikers who have for some time been trying to push us out. Let's not give them an excuse. Yah, I want to rip and push my boundaries too but this is not the trail to do that on. Hit Crawfish for that and go crazy! Please help save this trail for the next batch of brothers.

Recommended Route:
From the beginning, loop it all.

Other recommended trails in the same area:
Crawfish, Adams Mtn.Way, Noons Day.

Summary:
Pretty and perilous. Like previous reviewers have said, this is not for the faint of heart. Technically, it's not bad and aerobically it's a downright cakewalk -- until you come around a corner and stare down a 50-foot drop that looks pretty unsurvivable. There's even a spot where a guardrail has been constructed and subsequently plowed into. Just be ready to unclip and walk in a few places, including some downhill. Fun and beautiful -- but water's a little cold. Go when it's hot and make it a beach date as well.
