Some of the best singletrack around, lot's of descending, some technical, and some climbing. The option of different loops can fit just about anybody.
From Eugene south on I-5 to hwy 58, East on 58 to Oakridge about 35 miles take a left to Westfir, park at red covered bridge. Start riding on the Aufderheide rd for 3 miles turn on rd 1910, there 3 different loops to this trail,6 miles up to rd 683 is the start of one loop, on up 1910 to 1911 is the second loop , and for the 3rd loop its best to get a map.
Summary: Uphill Sucked. It was a long, boring climb, but we made it. Once on the trail it was a blast. It was along a cliff for quite a bit of the trail and gives not much room for error. I wrecked twice, not because I suck, but because I was going balls to the walls and was going to fast. Luckily I wrecked in places where the cliff was protected by some shrubs. The trail is really sweet with mostly smooth single track, lots of switchbacks, a few rock gardens, a few 2' drops, some tight weave sections, and some smooth jumps. All of the jumps up there were smooth with great landings, so if you ride this trail, hit every one you see.
Recommended Route: From Oakridge going toward Eugene, take the next right after the airport road. Drive through a little town, and there will be a single lane, red, covered bridge. Go across it and park. Ride toward the gate, go through it and follow the road till the trail goes off to the right after you go under the train tracks. There is a lot of brush, but this trail is super fun. Ride this trail for a while (2mi?) and then you will run into a road. Take this fire road (1910) up about 7-8 miles. There will be a fork that goes to the left at about 5 miles, don't take it. The second fork go left on (1911) Follow this for about a mile, or less. The trail is on the left and heads up into the trees. Once you are on the trail you want to make sure you stay left on the first split, go accross all the roads(don't turn on them) and then there will be a sharp left at the bottom(3/4) down where the trail either switchbacks or goes strait. Take the switchback and ride along the sidehill. Go through the gate and follow that road back to your car.

Summary: This was an awesome ride! I rode it the first day of Mt. Bike Oregon. I had a blast! There wasnt much climbing until the downhills started, and when we got there it was amazing, switchbacks all over. It was great!
Recommended Route: i dont know, we took a shuttle to the trail then my uncle took us the wrong way so we had to double back and i was lost from there until we got back to camp. Im sure the bike shop in town knows.

Summary: I just rode the Alpine Trail at the MtBikeOregon event. Took a shuttle up to the top. Rode fire road for about a mile, then climbed another mile on singletrack, then WHABAMMMM!!!
The fun started. Tight ST through huge standing and fallen old growth trees. Tighter switchback downhill sections. A smooth and flowing ride anyone would enjoy.
Recommended Route: I'm not totally positive, but go to the local bike store.

Ridden Trail: Once a year

Summary: I road this trail in 1998 and again in 2000. I went back to ride it again in Sept 2002 and there was a forest fire on the trail. The trail was closed as the crews were still putting out the 130+ acre blaze. I talked with the forestry guys and they said the trail would definitely different next time I ride it.
Recommended Route: Start at the Red Bridge in Westfir. Go north and take the first left over the river. Ride 8+ miles up the fire road then take the sweet singletrack trail back down to the bottom.
