Actually there are two trails:
One exits the trailhead to the west and crosses the Elephant Rock access road less than 1/4 mile after the trailhead. It lies almost entirely north of the trail head. It was built recently and is maintained by local MTB enthusiasts. They must be really advance riders. I consider myself intermediate and I carried my bike much of the trail. This is a GREAT trail for advanced riders. Lots of vertical, really technical stuff.
The second trail would be for novice to intermediate riders. It exits the parking area to the by several trail to the south and south-east. Thais trail lies south of the parking area. I think it was built many years ago. It goes from the Lodge area to Elephant Rock Campground area. I liked this trail lots. Both trails are almost totally wooded. The soil is sandy, so the trails would probably be O.K. after a rain, At least the south one would be. The North one may be too vertical to ride with much moisture.
From Ardmore, go south on Interstate 35 about 7 miles, exit and go east towards Lake Murray Lodge. At US 77s, go north. Exit right at Elephant Rock Campgound. Parking Lot and Trail head is to right (south) of gate house.
Other recommended trails in the same area: the boys have added anther section to the trails.it starts behind dukesforest and goes back towards the lake.it is about three to five miles of zigzags and climbs and some good tecnical secetions.it reminds me of lake draper.i think it is the best trail yet,it is fast and fun.check it out pluse there is more trails added,i beleive you will have a blast if you ride everything we have to offer.so let the party begin, thats all i have to say about that! Good day.

Summary: Many more trails have been added to lake murry since the initial trail has been posted. Has a little of everything, some hard climbs, few rock gardens here and there, some good speed sections, few fun jumps set up every now and then. I have it lucky cause i can ride out my back yard through a field and be on the trails. Have enjoyed them since i ever started rideing. Will miss when i go to college next year.

Summary: I discovered this trail on the fourth of July 2006. I was camping nearby and was just riding around to help digest my breakfast. Lake Murray is a small lake comparatively speaking. Texoma lake is right around the corner and that lake is huge. Anyway, I saw the signs that read visually bike trail, so I took it. I was blown away for a couple of reasons. First of all, I have just taken up bike riding for health reasons, my doctor said I needed excercise or else. So I decide to get a mt Bike and some magazines to go along with my new fetish. Since I have been riding, reading, and looking at all the pic's in these Mt bike mags, I have been desiring to put my bike to it's intended use. I hail from Texas and we come to Lake Murray to get away from it all. Since I have been riding my new mtb, I have been getting into great shape, albeit the riding has been on pavement ( my doctor is going to be impressed I've lost 15 lbs in two weeks!). Nonetheless, it has been fun and invigorating. Leaving me like I said, with the desire to ride on gnarly mtb trails. My wish came true this 4th of July. I was stoked the trails are shaded by sourronding trees, that's a plus given that the temperatures have been in the triple digits this summer. The other thing that rocks, is that these trails vary in ascents, different textures, ruts, the whole gambit of thing you see in these MTB mags.
The next time I took my son (he's 10) who just got his first MTB this summer too. We got totally prepared and went completly hydrated and ready to attack the trails. I fell a total of 5 times always on my left side, god knows why? Got scraped, got winded even going down hill. Stoped to take in the wilderness and made great memories with my son. My son commented, "who ever built these trails was crazy". His comment given the amount of energy and fear factor ripping down hill with all the obstacles and varying textures made a whole lot of sense. The trails where made for people like Fabian Barrel or other rippers. definitely not me or beginers. With that said and after nursing my left arm and shoulder back. I am will be ready to give it another try.
Oh yea, the second great thing about Elephant rock is that after a long day of falling, sweating, and being bent over for lack of oxigen. The trail ends with a nice splash in the lake to cool off. You can't beat that amenity.
Recommended Route: Take 35 north until you see the Lake murray exit. take the exit until you get to the store go left and you will see the Elephant rock turn off go there get out of your vehicle and start looking for the bike trails. take any one of them you wont be sorry.

Summary: Fun. Much better than clearbay. I am not a dh'r or cross country or a free rider. I ride it all, except on a 42lb bike. This place was really easy to find. Being new to OK that is real plus. 5 of us loaded up on 11406 and drove to Ardmore. All different skill levels and riding styles and were able to find something fun. If you look you can find 12' vertical rock drops with a good transition at the bottom. I would say advanced trail is a good description of this location. This place would be PERFECT for some man made obstacles
Recommended Route: Reccomend the entire trail. Would like to see it not be an out and back trail

Summary: this is an awesome trail it has everything for everyone. couple of downsides though is the weekends tend to get crowded with some tourists that will piss you off special when they takeup the whole trail. its mostly wooded watch out for spiderwebs another annoyance.
Recommended Route: start at elephant rock guard gate and go north its a good ride. i usually go to the north unloading ramp then go back cause i dont have enough time after work and school but just explore all sorts of technical stuff taht will keep you on your toes.
