Summary:
I rode this trail in 2010 and it was OK. I just went back to the knob last week (Sept 2014) and I was impressed. I have been riding 3-4 times a week for the past 15 years. I have lived in 5 states and I usually work at bicycle shops. The work that the 331 Racing guys have put into this trail is noticeable and very much appreciated. I can't remember the last time I had that much fun riding a trail in Ohio. I actually appreciated being on my trail bike vs my cross country racer. If you haven't been to the knob recently, go back and ride one of the best trails in Ohio. Sign the waver and drop a donation, these guys have been working hard and it shows.

Recommended Route:
Park by the pavilion. Ride the very clearly marked route.

Summary:
This trail is really fun to ride. I have been there 3 times in the last 6 months and I always find something new. This past weekend they had a trail day and there were several people rebuilding trails and creating new ones. I notice several new berms and jumps throughout the trails. There aren't as many wooden obstacles as there used to be. There are several short downhill sections through the place that you can get a lot of speed on, and there are lots of uphill sections with switchbacks. I rode it on a geared 26er and 29er SS and had no problem doing the entire trail on either bike. I would recommend front suspension fork though as the trail gets pretty rough in areas. It is well worth going to.

Recommended Route:
Stay on the marked trail the first time around to get a feel for the area. There are trail markers showing hard and easy trails. The hard trails didnt seem that hard just alot funner, jumps, rock gardens, steep hill climbs ect.

Summary:
This trail has been updated significantly since the last review.
They have added some full-on gravity lines which are separate from the XC lines.
The XC lines still have that old-school flavor and the man-made stunts still have that pucker factor (the cradle, the suspension bridge, the arch bridge, the skinny bridges, the rock piles) as well as a bit of visual intimidation, but there are also bypass lines provided for the more conservative or more tired (you WILL get tired).
Ride this trail as fast as you can or as slow as you want but you'll still have to earn nearly every inch of it. There are many turns, but also many sections where you can really let it roll. There are tough climbs and there are tough descents. There are drifting turns, switchbacks, and berms.
It has always been one of my favorite trails because it is what I consider "real" MTBing. The trail is well-cut and cleared, but there is not one inch of sanitized tread, and the variety is almost endless. You will find loose and exposed rocks, exposed roots, and tricky lines on undulating terrain that continuously challenge your decision-making instinct. Several spots also offer alternate lines that aren't the fast way, but maybe the fun way - or the hard way. Miss your mark by an inch and you might leave the trail. You really have to have your "stuff" together to go fast here - fitness, gear, skilz.

Recommended Route:
Follow the signs.

Other recommended trails in the same area:
Nothing compares in technical challenge, but Mohican SP and Mohican Wilderness, which is also pretty technically challenging and offers gravity lines in addition to the XC lines, are not too far down the road. Reagan Park (much easier) is up North a bit.

Summary:
I honestly don't get what all the hype is about. It's been years since I was out there last, and remember it being much better maintained and a lot more interesting. You definitely have to keep your head together, but even the black diamond sections aren't that tough and I definitely don't consider myself an expert level rider. The trail and especially the stunts are showing a lot of wear. If you're coming from Cleveland or Columbus there are much better choices closer to home. If you need some variety, it's a pretty good bet if you don't mind the drive- just not deserving of all the hype from the older posts. (Notice that almost all of them are from many years ago.)

Recommended Route:
Do the novice (yellow arrows) if you're nursing a hangover, otherwise follow the pie plates and the red arrows.

Other recommended trails in the same area:
Closer to Cleveland and equally good or better: Findley State Park in Wellington; Reagan/Huffman in Medina; West Branch in Ravenna.

Summary:
This is the most technical trail in Ohio and I love it! I haven't been to the Knob since I raced it about 5 years ago. There are some new additions that are nice if you didn't know what they replaced. The pic at the top of this page was one of the coolest things to ride especially if you brought someone who has never been here before, but it is now closed... along with another of my fav sections close to the trail head that had 3 tabletops in a row as you fly downhill, those were a blast, but they are no longer either. The fast "powerline" section is great, I hit 26mph on a hardtail! And of course the "cradle" will ask you to run it numerous times. The trail is starting to show some use with exposed roots and random mud puddles here and there days after the last rain. Still worth the trip from C-bus!

Recommended Route:
I've never strayed from the main route, just stop and do the fun stuff a few times... oh, and when you get to the old round stone well take a look down there... someone put a toddler-sized doll down there and it's just sitting upright, I nearly shat myself... freaky!

Other recommended trails in the same area:
Can't go wrong with Mohican for some fast single track through the woods.
