Parmanian Desperado Trail

NOTE: If you are not from Northeast Ohio, do not come to this trail! For the rest of us who are stuck in Cleveland, this trail is an ATV-based trail that starts behind a Methodist church off State Road. I found it completely by accident and if I didn't live in the area, I'd never know it was there. You get to play human weedwacker through the top half of the trail. There are some deeply rutted and warn double-track with much overgrowth and briars. Try to go as fast as you can and see how long you can ride between the ruts. Once you get to a creek, the trail opens up through some woods that most of yellow-brick town hasn't seen in years. There are a couple different ways to go - all trails go DOWN and bumpy double-track. There are some killer decents made by the ATV crowd that make you do an adrenaline check before going down them. Anyhow, there are a couple stream crossings and some trick roots that might throw you on the first ride through. There are some limited trails at the bottom of the trail, but you will more than likely end up behind a funeral home on Ridge Rd. or in a place that advertises "No dumping." If you are a wuss, you can go out Ridge, make a right UP Pleasant Valley Road, then make a right onto State to do the trail again, or at the very least to get back to your car. Otherwise, you have to turn-tail and head back up the double-track. It's a good trail to ride if you are in town and have nothing to do. I'm not sure how legal it is, so please be mindful to stay on the trail and keep a low profile. You're on your own.

Summary:
Just as an update...the "best" parts of this area has just been wiped out thanks to a new housing developement! There is still a "fire" road back there, but it is mostly flat, with a few water crossings, but all (i should say both) of the good hills are now GONE! It was a matter of time...after all this is Parma.

Summary:
As mentioned before, this trail is only for locals, not much there, but it is MUCH better than the towpath! There are a few short down hills that are steep as you get closer to state road. 5 + water crossings. Also, look for a nice downhill behind the funeral home on ridge. I have been back there before with my Jeep, along with others, so its not a single track, but its still fun for being in Parma. I have been back there while police and fire were putting out a small fire (no i didn't start it) without any problems, so it is legel (no "no tresspassing" signs anywhere).

Recommended Route:
Ridge Road to State Road and back. Park in the new plaza south of Pleasant Valley on Ridge, and ride the road until you see the no dumping sign on your left.
