, from Ironton, Ohio Summary: This is a great place to ride. When it is dry. The mud hangs on for a few days after a rain and the ATV's keep is pretty messy. When it is dry I can think of no other place I like better. 20+ miles of trails. It is worth the drive if you are within a few hours. Recommended Route: email me for directions Other recommended trails in the same area: Lake Vesuvius....legal,hopefully, in the fall of 2001.

, from ann arbor, mi Summary: 4th of july '93 i think: great trail, abusive I'd say. ther was even a sweet downhill with a nice warning sign. I recomend heeding this warning. the guy i went tothis race with smacked his penis on his top tube, broke his urinary track and nearly bled to death. There is a hospital in Ironton, hopefully they have improved there sevices since they just gave him gauze and said good luck. when we got back to cinci the hospital said he would have bled to death in another half hour
Recommended Route: take a map, take lunch, take a friend, take a first aid kit Other recommended trails in the same area: wayne n.f. hocking district

Ridden Trail: Every few months

, from Batesville , Indiana Summary: I was born and raised in Ironton and have rode these trails since I was a kid and this place was an abandoned Oakley Collins strip mine. I am now 34 years old and have been racing and riding off road since I was 7. I have held a Norba pro license and rode for several Factory teams over the years. I am convinced that my riding skills were honed to a pro level early on in my life by riding these trails. Having rode the Norba Circuit and countless other places and races, this still remains to this day my most favorite place to ride. If you go there to ride, pack for survival. Its a long hard walk back to the trail head. Also the trailhead has no bathroom or running water. Be prepared. I highly suggest NOT riding this trail alone. If possible I would visit the National Forest ranger station in Ironton or At Lake Vesuvius and pick up a trail map. Best post ride food is at Giovanni's Pizza, three exits to the east on US 52 in Coal Grove. Get of exit and go north to light and then left, You'll see it. We tried to put on a couple of races there several years ago but never got big turnout. There loss. If you were planning to head east to Snowshoe, save yourself the long drive. If your a really good rider, this place will leave you with a smile on your face, if your not, it will make you want to be. I bring a bike with me most every trip home to visit family. Going home and not doing Hanging Rock is Sacrireligous to anyone who has experienced it. 'Nuff said. Recommended Route: I know and love every trail here. I prefer to warm up on the copperhead trail and if I feel strong that day, I ride the powerline. Other recommended trails in the same area: The lake trail around nearby Lake Vesuvius is also excellent, but illegal!!!
