100,000 acres,90 miles of trails,100% bike access, No 4-wheelers or motorcycles permitted, 400''+ hills, pristine under rode singletrack trails. Most of the terrain would be classified as advanced because of the nature of being a backcountry experience. There''s roots, rocks, ruts, drops, creek crossings, technically challenging climbs and downhills, with some hike a bike sections. As challenging as the terrain is,it can be enjoyed by the intermediate rider if they are in decent shape, take their time, rest and eat often, walk the short tuff sections and keep the rides shorter. The trails are open from April 15th to Dec.15th. Trail passes and maps can be aquired at the rangers office 2mi. north of Marietta on State Rt.7 in Reno,OH. on the right. Most of the trails on the map appear to be out and backs which are great by themselves, but the locals have devised many EPIC rides by linking up trails with rural township roads which will be detailled in seperate reviews. The trails are maintained by a group of riders in the Marietta chapter of The North Country Trail Association (NCT). There are 43 miles of the NCT in the Marietta district. The Leith Run campground is open starting Memorial Day. It is 2mi. north of Newport OH. on RT.7. It''s in a great location to the trail system with nice ammenities that''s right on the Ohio River with boat docks.
