The Methane Challenge
3 reviews
 3.33 of 5

Some of the most nuts NE Ohio Mt. Biking there is! Long down hills, monster jumps, and single track out the butt. Not for a beginer by any means. Also, respect the area around The Methane Challenge. While the actual land The Methane Challenge is on, is free game for riding, some of the land around it is private. I heard some guy from the Garfield Bike Shop (216-441-6430) is going to be sponsoring Mt Bike races there.

Summary:
The reason that trail smells is because its the Garfield Heights garbage dump! This trail no longer exists though. They built a huge shopping center there.

Recommended Route:
TRAIL NO LONGER EXISTS!

Recommended Route:
i ride my bike up their but you can park behind the highschool.thenjustride down the hill and fallow the trail. as you go on to the right their is a baseball field and to the left their is a space you can do some jumps on too. then just keep on going till you see a big flat area then you hang a right then their is a path you follow with big humps you can ride over then it goes back flat. then their is a huge drop the a big wall you can ride up. then your their so tear it up!!!

Summary:
Take the powerline trail all over. You can find some places to mess around. Also, try the hill under the I-480 bridge, its sweet. You can also get down into the valley and ride the towpath if you really wanted to. I like the downhills in the back of the dump. By the way, the guy at Garfield Bike Shop (on Warner Rd. near the border of Garfield Hts. and Cleveland) isn't having any races back there. It smells too bad and it would just be too much.

Recommended Route:
You can get back there from the Progressive Insurance parking lot, or from Garfield Hts. High School, or from Garfield Mall. Just look for the power line trail and it will take you to the dump.

Other recommended trails in the same area:
Windy days are crazy there, being on the top of the valley and all.
