Ridden Trail: Ridden Once

Weekend Warrior Summary: This trail was recommended by a fellow rider from Parkersburg WV. My Son and I rode part of this trail two weeks ago on an evening ride. There are some tough climbs but we loved it! We rode it out and back from Beavertown, as far as time would allow. Due to a late start, clearing about four unridable treetops off the trail (love my little folding saw) and enjoying the view from the overlook we didn't quite make it to Sheets Run that evening. Really enjoyed the return trip. Now that I found this post, I believe we will try the ride mentioned. Sounds like great fun. We'll definately be back.
On a note, anyone riding up the trail from Beavertown, when you reach the top of the second hill you will ride a hundred or so yards of double track (ATV trail). Be carefull and watch for the single track to fade off to the right. There were no signs there and someone had put logs and treetops over the single track making you believe you were to follow the ATV trail. We followed the double track for about 5 minutes and after not seeing any trail markers we went back and checked out the covered single track we had seen. Sure enough that was our turn so we were back on the right track. I cleared the debre at that intersection but you will still need to watch for that spot. Especially if someone covers it up again. Recommended Route: I think the one mentioned above sounds great. The portion of the trail we rode is a blast so I can't wait to ride it again. Other recommended trails in the same area: Archers Fork Loop. What a workout! I think we will ride it counter clockwise next time. Clockwise was tough.
Scenic River Trail (River Trail as the signs say). Best to start at Co.Rd.9 trailhead and ride out and back. Don't even try the loop it is extremely overgrown. Nice for that quick evening ride.

Cross Country Rider Summary: This is pretty nice ride. But the summer storms of 2003 have wrecked havoc on these trails. There alot of blowdowns. This trail needs some serious trail work. Recommended Route: The one posted was cool.

, from Marietta, Ohio Summary: We have done a lot of work and this trail is in great shape. I really encourage you to come check it out. I promise that you won't be disappointed. I have ridden all over the US and this ride still ranks as one of my all-time favorites. Ohio is starved for great single-track riding and this is one of its best kept secerts. I rank this as the best riding in Ohio without a doubt. Trail Passes are $5 for one day and $25 for the season(Apr 15-Dec 15) and can be purchased at the Marietta and Athens Wayne National Forest offices. For more info call Marietta Unit(740)373-9055 Athens Unit(740)753-0101 or www.fs.fed.us/r9/wayne
Recommended Route: Follow the route in the Ohio View Trail listing on this site. Other recommended trails in the same area: We have other great riding in the same area but no good maps really. I may try to post some rides on the North Country Trail/River Trail/Archers Fork Loop Trail in the future.
