Weekend Warrior Summary: The previous posts are a little misleading. Yes, alot of singletrack has been torn down but there is still alot of trail left and some even being built as I type this. Ive been riding these trails almost daily for a few months and there is way more trail than the other posts let you believe. I am a UNCC grad and yes, they have destroyed much of what was previously rideable, but a good 10+ miles are still extremely rideable (i average about 7 miles a day easily). I am actively building new track, so come out and hit em up! Recommended Route: Park next to The "new" baseball stadium at UNCC, or at the CMC University Hospital and follow dirt trails past the pond, and explore for yourself (its nearly impossible to get lost becasue every trail leads to a major highway/intersection). My choice is blue to yellow to what ever speaks to your condition. Follow the blazes and please dont litter : ) Other recommended trails in the same area: Poplar tent, Renaissance, TSALI!!!

Racer Summary: Was the best trail in Charlotte in the late 90s. I am a UNCC graduate (1998) and I haven't donated $1 because of the developement of that campus. I can not tell you how much students are now missing out on what was once an awesome trail. JUST MAKE SURE YOU GIVE BACK AND JOIN IMBA. This will keep our trails safe. I hope the local MTB community has been able to cut new trails with what is left.

Weekend Warrior Summary: I've been the primary muscle in bringing back these awesome single-track trails. Disregard most of the reviews stating that all of the decent trails have been 'dozed and that the trails are dead, in fact they’re very much alive. The remains have been improved to enhance the thrill this trail offers. Warning to those riding clipless, you'll meet some spots which may require you to dismount and walk up due to the steep gradient and/or technical terrain. Very fun trail, check out www.tarheeltrailblazers.com for more info on this and other surrounding Charlotte, NC area trails. , from Hendersonville, NC Summary: I'm a student here at UNCC and have been here to ride all the trails before the "expansion" of campus. Just for everyone's information almost everything that was once a good 12+ miles of trail systems has been destroyed. There is still a half-mile here and there remaining, but most of what is left hasn't been ridden or kept up very well due to construction blocking trailheads and fallen trees from the recent winter's ice storms. What was once the best thing the school had going for it no longer exists and is a very strong reason why i'm now leaving the University. The new loop that was built off Toby Creek is the only thing left that is actually a worthwhile ride, but sections of it are pretty difficult as it goes through several muddy gullies. If you live on campus you may want to switch to Urban Riding over cross-country now. The cops are pretty cool about people jumping stairs and such as long as you're wearing some pro-. I really hate to see the trails gone, but thanks to those who are trying to rebuild and keep the UNCC biking scene alive. Recommended Route: Park at the Library ride the first trail to the right, it heads down across Toby Creek Road and goes into a newly built loop. The new loop is decent at best but nothing like the old ones that used to be on campus. Other recommended trails in the same area: Beech Spring, Catawba

, from Conyers, GA Summary: This trail would have been more fun if I had ridden with someone from Charlotte. I was in town on business, and based on the reviews here, I decided to give it a try. I think I rode all or most of the Library and Credit Union loops. There were several very challenging stretches. Especially the drops into the ravines with the steep rooty climbs out. I was taking a recuperation ride and so was going pretty slow anyway, and many of the obstacles sneak up on you. I thought I was in for a frustrating ride. The trail got more manageable after about 2 miles of riding. As I mentioned, I felt lost the whole time. There are numerous forks and T's with no indications of which way to turn. This would have been challenging enough; but as if to add insult to injury, there was all kinds of dirt tracks cut in by bulldozers. The trail would hit this and occassionally go straight across. More often than not, you would have to ride the double track some distance to pick up the trail again. It was quite frustrating. All in all, Charlotte has a potentially (and obviously once upon a time) great ride at UNCC once they finish all the construction. If the trails made more sense, this would have easily earned 4 stars, as it is... Recommended Route: I have no clue. I rode in and out of construction, across several roads, through several unmarked forks in the trail and in general felt lost the whole time.
