Left Loop is an awesome trail. Beautifull scenery. The terra firma is sometimes, and other times rocky or loose. At the 8 mile mark the trail narrows to a "true" singletrack of approx. 8", if a snake is crossing the trail.. run over it or stop! I attempted to avoid it [instinct at speed] and ending up steering into the soft berm and to make a long story short.. breaking my fibula. Hit the snake! I'll be back! the Right loop is fun but the Left is definately more challenging and picturesque. N.C. Rules! The kayaking has always been awesome and now Mtn. Biking! The state will probably be overrun when I'm ready to retire!

Summary:
Rode the Thomson loop. Nice ride with lots of lake view early. After wards a lot of climbing but gentle for the most part. Just lengthy. Downhill to the end after long climb and it can be a little crazy here and there, A little trail maintenance in order but only in a few little spots. It was a lot of fun overall. Definitely would recommend.

Recommended Route:
Thomson loop works well.

Summary:
I drove up for a weekend getaway and property hunting in the Murphy area but was in Bryson City when I asked the LBS about the best trails. They recommended Tsali without hesitation and sold me an over-priced trail map that I never needed but was still glad I had. I also spent the balance of my $10 on a 29er sticker so all was good at BCBS. lol

The trail was mostly single track, hard packed, with minor stream crossings (not really streams but wet corners where the water trickled down toward Fontana Reservoir. There were some roots but nothing like we have here in Central Florida. The trail was intermediate as far as technicalities go but it was tough for an out-of-shape Clydesdale who used to flat rides.

Recommended Route:
I only rode the Left Loop as I arrived too late to also ride the Right Loops. And, because the other two trails were closed (trail use alternates with equestrian) and I was only ably to ride on Sunday.

Other recommended trails in the same area:
There are supposed to be trails closer to Murphy but I wasn't aware of those (mobile Internet was atrocious) until now. So, I can't recommend any other trails.

I would really like to speak with you, I too am a central FL rider and I am heading up that way this weekend. Would you be kind enough to send me a private message, my MTBR name is ChewynMe. Thanks.

Summary:
I would not call this trail one of the best in north carolina. The trail is fast but,it is also wide and none exciting. There was no singletrack, hardly any obstacles, no rock gardens , no drops, no log crossings, and no fun. There were a few jumps but they were off the main trail. Its just a plain jane trail around a lake with nice views. Not worth more then an hour drive. Go to brevard instead.

Recommended Route:
I recommend the right loop and left loop if you do go.

Brevard Pisgah Area
Dupont State Forest

Summary:
Tsali trails are the best eastcoast trails period! Left loop is tough clockwise but the views are unreal. Do yourself a favor and buy a trail map from Bryson city bikes before u go. The map is detailed and is a life savor when other seem lost.

Recommended Route:
Left loop counterclock wise. Trust me u can avoid a ton of climbing this way and just have fun. Take the fire road/double track towards the outlook post (which is the highlight) then enjoy the trails downhill.

Other recommended trails in the same area:
If u have only time for one trail do the left loop. I live in Florida and I rode left loop once. Going to ride it one more time before we head on home.
