Summary:
While in town on business, I hooked up with a friend who lives in Raleigh to do some riding. We hit Harris Lake first and then Rocky Road. I was a little board by Harris Lake. It was a lot of fun but not technical at all. Then we went to Rocky Road which my buddy had never been to either. It was a blast. I'm used to technical trails like Rocky Road and was still challenged. These trails have everything you could ask for except for signage, however, I realize that they aren't in a location where signs are really possible. Great job to whoever builds and maintain these trails.

Summary:
The trail is technical. You need to be on your a-game to be out there and you need to know where you are going. Once you get your bearings you are off for a ride my friends. My advice is to take a left off of the main entrance and you will have a very nice, fast, and technical ride. Be careful, there are a lot of obstacles out there that are gonna put your skills to the test. Be prepared for large log hops and a lot of roots out there. The climbs are difficult but the reward kick a$$ so pedal hard and enjoy the trails. I love em!!!

Recommended Route:
Getting there is easy. Either ride through loop 1 of Crab Tree or get onto Westin Parkway and look for Old Reddy Creek Road. Drive to the end. Get on your bike and ride over the bridge and make your second right and you are at the mouth of the beast. Strap you helmet on and get ready for the ride. Left or right, it's your choice but it is all climbing if you go right!!! Have a good time!!!

thanks for all the new trail work whomever is doing it. It makes Rocky Road have a certain character and also gives the visual cues that are necessary when riding such a rough track. :)

Summary:
Rode last night. A lot of rooty, rocky climbs and technical descents await. Definiately a good challenge if you are looking for one in the area. Climbs are steep in some places and littered with roots and rocks that constantly try to throw you off rythm. I would not recommend riding this trail by yourself unless you are an advanced rider and know the trail. Bring a group of friends and get ready for a fun challenging ride.

Recommended Route:
I-40 to Harrison Ave. to R on Weston Pway to R on Old Reedy Creek Road. Take Pave/gravel road and cross over I-40. Trailhead is on right shortly after bridge.

Other recommended trails in the same area:
Crabtree, Regency, Lake Harris, New Light

Summary:
Intermediate trail with advanced sections. Rocks and roots abound. Many downed trees due to ice storms, but the trail is well-maintained considering it is technically renegade. Some logs and stacks and obstacles if you like. Fun if you live in the area or are passing by.

Recommended Route:
I-40 to Harrison Ave. to R on Weston Pway to R on Old Reedy Creek Road. Take Pave/gravel road and cross over I-40. Trailhead is on right shortly after bridge.

Other recommended trails in the same area:
Lake Crabtree singletrack trails are now open and provide a good warm-up or bunny slope. Umstead is still undergoing tree clean-up and roadwork as of mid-April.
