Weekend Warrior Summary: Rode this trail for the first time yesterday. Finding the trail was easy as there are a few signs that point toward Fischer park. The mountain bike parking area is also clearly marked. Wasn't sure what to expect but was really surprised with how good the trail is. The trail is mostly all single track. I'm pretty much a noob and my fitness level isn't there yet so there were several places I had to hike my bike. There were a lot of climbs but only a couple places that were really extreme. There were some really fun downhill sections. In one there was a fast downhill with a man made bridge at the bottom. There were also a couple other man made obstacles such as a bridge over a log and one over a boulder. For the most part the trail was well marked. Never got lost but had to stop and make sure I was on the right path a couple times. Overall a great place to ride! Will be going back soon! Other recommended trails in the same area: Matthews State Park in Galax

Cross Country Rider Summary: I rode Fisher River on the first of the year and it is now 5.7 miles. Used to be around 4. A new wooden bridge has been constructed as well as a wooden platform that lies up against a large boulder you ride over towards the end of the ride(if riding counter-clockwise). The rock garden is great as is always. Had not ridden this trail in awhile and forgot how nice it is. There is a little bit of confusion part way into the ride where they added some new trail, but you'll find your way alright. Hopefully some directional arrows will be added soon at this section. For map with elevation profile look under the 'Trail Maps' section of www.ncmountainbiker.com.

Cross Country Rider Summary: I've been riding this trail a lot recently (just tried it for the first time a month ago). It is an excellent trail for riders of all skills but I would rate it more for beginner to intermediate riders. As a rider struggling to transition from beginner to intermediate I have found a few technical areas that are still beating me and many more that really challenge me every time I ride it. The final uphill rock garden is very technical but do-able. The trail is a nice 5.? miles and as of 12/3/08 it is very well maintained and easy to follow. There is a natural flow to this trail even though they really crammed a lot of trail into a small patch of woods. Kudos to the designers! Recommended Route: One way trail, park in the MTB Trail parking lot and enter through the entrance gate. Other recommended trails in the same area: Horizons park near Winston-Salem, Matthews State Park near Galax, VA.

Weekend Warrior Summary: As of 11/05/2008, its 5.5 miles long and really nice. I would say a half dozen ladders now added including some ladder drops, bridges etc. Aerobic a 10,technical 7 fun 10. Its well worth an hour or even 2 drive. Recommended Route: Entrance and exit. Other recommended trails in the same area: If you are really hardcore do the double, fisher river to Westwood park. Its about 12 miles away and tough. About the same length too. Reviews are here for Westwood as well. Later
