Pretty descent uphill or descent, near the top it is mostly what looks like creek bed, there is one stair case near the bottom that might be pretty tough to go down, I didnt dare try it, it is a steady climb, but not too bad at all...this trail is mainly used to connect to other trails, LOTS of rocks near the top...this trail is an easy way to get to avery creek downhill
drive into the pisgah national forest on 276 next to walmart in brevard (really pisgah forest), you can drive to the first entrance to FS477(horsestables) and go almost all the way to the end and the trail head will be on your right, or you can take 276 almost all the way to the cradle of forestry and take the back entrance to FS477 and the trailhead will be on your left pretty close to the beginning of the the back entrance to 477...i parked at the trail head to avery creek and road up FS477 to the top and then down to club gap trail head on right and then went straight up that and into the avery gap trail back to my car...that was about 1 hour and 45 minutes
