Triton High School trail
5 reviews
 3.4 of 5

Mainly an ATV trail but superfun for MTB as well. Some sick freefall drops in the gravel pits prior to the main trail provide a killer warmup for the ride. Start the ride by going past the gravel pit. If you keep going right, there's a little jump that starts the trail, followed by a good descent. Go left at the bottom of the descent and find the start of the trail on your right. If you take the left after the main gravel pit there will be some more gnarly drops. Be careful! Trail in itself winds through trees and is unmarked, so you might have to look pretty good to be able to connect the loop. Two creek crossings, several bermed turns that you can just book through and two killer descents. Some gravel and a little sand. One of the two only trails in Harnett county. E-mail me for more info!

I do not recommend this trail to anyone. You'd be better off driving to Raleigh. Trail is sandy, flat, and boring!!

Summary:
I really am getting to like this, you can do a loop with nothing but li'l ring spinning, or you can hammer down hills and little crossings. And the best part is you can do a ton of laps and never really get the same thing twice. The only really bad part is if you take a wrong turn you can end up in some really sandy areas...unless you like sandy areas, then it is a good thing.

Recommended Route:
Well, I just head on straight from Campbell and hang a left at that BP, park in the teacher parking lot and ride across that road to the farm truck entrance...

Summary:
Fun trail for this area of the state. Yes, Sanford has better trails and some of Raleigh's trails may be more geared towards MTB, but if you live in the Sandhills this is a great option close to home.

Recommended Route:
CORRECTION: There is no such a thing as Triton rd. Of 55 s. turn left on MAYNARD LAKE. This is the road that goes to the High School. Sorry if I got anyone lost!
Daniel.

Other recommended trails in the same area:
Cape Fear River trail (Erwin), Rumors of good trails in Linden. I'll be checking them out soon.
