Cross Country Rider Summary: My first ride today on this excellent east coast-typical trail - rocky and rooty. Some nice log rolls and hill ascents to make the ride interesting.
Rode all the sections except Burned Out and Left & Right Loop - got to the trail late in the afternoon. Definitely not a trail for beginners and would be a good idea to ride with a buddy. I didn't see anyone on the trail, except at the parking lot.
Trail signs/maps at each trail intersection make it easy to navigate without a buddy who knows the trail.
Overall, one of the premier trails in the Raleigh area, it's just such a hike to get to. Recommended Route: Counter-clockwise beginning at the parking lot. Other recommended trails in the same area: Crabtree & Hog Run are nice easy trails. Still need to hit the other Raleigh area trails.

, from Raleigh Summary: These trails have EVERYTHING. If you've ridden any trails before, prepare to be impressed. Many miles of trails with great scenery and wildlife encounters without encountering other riders. There are so many trails, I rarely see anybody else out there. Definately recommend riding with others on these trails. Recommended Route: For beginner-intermediate...easy street to wayin-wayout to burned out. Other recommended trails in the same area: Beaver Dam (unless it has rained in the last week) They close those trails if there is morning dew on the ground!

, from durham, nc Summary: Overall, I can't say enough about these trails. To think that some people built these and you can ride them free anytime you want, except hunting season, is great. All skill levels are available here in my opinion. Even some of the best riders will find challenges on some of the hills in the Eastern Territory, right loop in particular. These trails have logs, rocks, whoop de doos (some big ones) everything. Fast trails, technical trails, or trails just to enjoy the scenery. I really can't say enough about it. If you live in the triangle area and find Crabtree easy then forget about it and come here, you won't be disappointed. Recommended Route: Way in way out to the Eastern Territory Other recommended trails in the same area: Estes drive trails in chapel hill

Ridden Trail: Once a month

, from Raleigh, NC Summary: It's New Light! What more can you say? The best riding anywhere in NC. But don't go alone or without some backup gear. If you bail or get really hurt odds are they won't find your ass until next spring thaw. You can ride this trail from beginning to end to beginning and never see a single soul. The only reason why I didn't give it 5 is because it's so freaking far away from my house, but I guess that's my fault. :) Make sure you have some skills before you ride here. Practice getting over small trees/roots/rocks before going there. I would not recommend it for people who are just starting out or don't have some basic balance skills down. Put on bug spray. If you get caught walking anywhere on this trail the ticks will find you. Don't be stupid--wear a helmet or stay on the stationary bikes at the gym. I see too many people out on the trails without them. The folks who own this place can shut it down in the blink of an eye if the owners think it's too dangerous or if they are sued by some schmuck who is now drinking his food through a straw. Happy Riding Amigos! Recommended Route: However you want... Other recommended trails in the same area: Hog Run, Crabtree, Beaver Dam, Regency, Chapel Hill
