Weekend Warrior Summary:
Tight and steep switchbacks(all cleanable)but tech 3 to 4 make for a great but strenuous but doable climb. Previous poster clearly not having the skill level to appreciate great single track. The downhill is awesome, very narrow at times but awesome. This is not a beginner trail but if you are intermediate to advanced and are in reasonable shape you will love this trail. The road back is just a spinning but a great cool down and has beautiful scenery all the way back to the parking lot. Other recommended trails in the same area: Pisgah-- Black Mountain, Mullinax/squirrel gap, laurel Mountain, Bent Creek, tsali

Downhiller Summary: I don't know who could classify this as the best downhill in Pisgah. It is more uphill than anything else. Its horrible hike-a-bike uphill to some downhill then up some more, and a few down trees and some more uphill then brief downhill with two to three decent jumps then you are done. I hate to see what would happen to the guys who think this trail is killer if they get on some real downhill. if this trail had a better payoff, maybe more downhill, it would be ok but its DH is not good enough for all the hiking. Recommended Route: Go somewhere else! Other recommended trails in the same area: Don't know.

Cross Country Rider Summary: Trail begins as a flat, wide, grassy straight trail along side of Interstate 40 but it quickly turns into singletrack switchbacks to top of Kitsuma peak. Switchbacks are graded so that much of the climbing is done in the curves and not the straight sections, making for tricky turns. The first half of the descent is the most technical whereas the 2nd half of the descent is moderately technical. The descent is very narrow in many places and any variance from the trail will send you tumbling down a steep slope. Recommended Route: Take Kitsuma/Youngs Ridge trail to Old Fort picnic area, out to Andrews Geiser to cool off in the summer, and back up either the closed Route 70 or the open "Old Route 70". Other recommended trails in the same area: Coleman's Boundary

Cross Country Rider Summary: this ride starts out as a tough climb with a dozen or so switchbacks for good measure. After a mile or so you'll come to a clearing. Take this opportunity to lower your saddle this is the first of a series of desents, its not the longest but it is the steepest. you'll start to climb again at the top if you look off to the left you'll see one of the best views around. A little desent and you're at the last climb. From here its all downhill literaly (about a 2.5 mile desent). When you hit the park stop and catch your breath, because you now have a 5 mile climb out good news is its a closed paved h-way. Take it easy on the way up and compare notes with your buddies on what a great ride you just had. Recommended Route: start at trail head take old H-way 70 back up. Other recommended trails in the same area: Trace ridge

Cross Country Rider Summary: Good trail but in the fall watch out for the leaves they can land you down in the gulley Recommended Route: Start in the kitsuma peak parking lot and descend the trail from there. When you have reached the bottom follow the closed highway to the top or if you are a lucky you can shuttle up the hill for another run Other recommended trails in the same area: no idea
