This ride can only be done at low tide. sand is hard enough at waters' edge to support the rider.

Summary:
I knew from looking on MTBR.com that there weren't any trails located at Nags Head, NC, my next stop on the tour. I got in 25 miles of riding, all on paved biked pathes. I either pulled the Burley behind the bike with Jack in it, or I tested the Urban Assualt capabilites of my bike. Both were fun in there own respected ways. Jack had a great time playing all week on the beach, in the pool, and with his family, especially Colin, his 21 month old cousin from Cleveland.

Recommended Route:
Hit the bike path and try some of the drop offs and curb riding.

Other recommended trails in the same area:
This is stop #2 in the Appalachian Tour. Haw Ridge, Oak Ridge, TN; Bent Creek, Asheville, NC; Trace Ridge/Fletcher Creek section of Laurel Mtn, Asheville, NC; DuPont State Forest, Brevard, NC; Laurel Mountain, Asheville, NC; The Bicycle Post, Greenville, NC, COROLLA LIGHTS BEACH, NAGS HEAD, NC; Gambrill State Park, Frederick, MD; Beans Bike Park, Dennison, OH. Summary:
i know, i know, we are mountain bikers. but i'm from the mountains in pa! you have got to experience the beauty of cape hatteras, at the corolla light beach. you can only ride at low tide. ride 13 miles north until land ends. experience wild mustangs, and $2 million dollar homes built in hurricane alley. an entire "town" exhists in the sand, with no paved roads. it is the weirdest development you'll ever see.

Other recommended trails in the same area:
bring a 4-wheel drive, and or, a atv to explore the entire area
