Bicycle Post Trails
19 reviews

Created by the Bicycle Post, a local bike shop. 9 miles of loops. 1 mud pit, Huge bowl made out of a ravine, fast downhills, sandy and rooty, 2 strait aways, nice streams, medium technical, fun both directions. Don't go close to dusk. Supposed to be a member and where a helmet. They also hosts races there. Very fun trail.

Summary:
This is really a post to see if we (Greenville Mountain bikers) can get a group ride together at the Bike Post trail. Maybe we can make a sheet at the trail to see if people are interested in getting together and riding. I don't care what level you are lets just get a good group out there so we don't have to do boring solo rides.

Recommended Route:
Either way is fine...usually counterclockwise.

Other recommended trails in the same area:
NONE

Summary:
The trail is very much back and better than ever. Here are some breif details:

1) Yes, some of the trail area was logged.
2) Many of the best sections of trail were left untouched through negotiations with the land owner.
3) A new trail (7 mile loop) has been rebuilt connecting the portions that were left with a lot of fresh mileage. The trail still drains GREAT so come on down when the Triangle trails are too wet to ride!
4) Through a lot of work (and monetary contributions) by local bikers the trail has re-opened and is ready to ride.

If you want to use the trail you must:
1) Sign a waiver at either of the Bicycle Post locations. This only needs to be done once.
2) Either become an EC Velo club member (www.ecvelo.org) or pay a daily rate of $2 deposited in a drop box at the trail head. EC Velo members get year parking pass. $2= day parking pass.
3) Make a donation to help pay the lease.
IMPORTANT! Once the drop box is set up, anyone without a parking pass will be towed. No one will be towed until the drop box is in place and information is posted at the trail head.

Read more at this thread: http://forums.mtbr.com/showthread.php?t=131245
or at http://www.ecvelo.org.

Recommended Route:
Right now the only option is a single loop, both clockwise and counter clockwise are very good routes. In the future we will build some cut-offs to provide some shorter loops as well.

Summary:
This trail is awesome! Very technical. Lots of roots. Steep uphills unusual for eastern carolina. There are some cool jumps and drops. A really fun teeter totter. Many logs and log piles. Also a nice steep section going in an out of a gully. Watch out for snakes! Make sure you bring plenty of water. Must sign a waiver at the bike post and joi n the EC velo club.

Recommended Route:
There are many shortcuts and spurs but the trail is generally well marked and if stay on the main trail you'll be okay.

Other recommended trails in the same area:
none

Summary:
BAD NEWS FOR THIS TRAIL. FOR NOW IT IS CLOSED, SO TECHNICALLY... NO ONE SHOULD BE OUT THERE. THE OWNER HAS DECIDED TO LOG IT OUT. WE ARE WORKIN HARD TO SAVE AS MUCH AS WE CAN. HOPEFULLY WE WILL BE ABLE TO SALVAGE SOME OF IT AND BUILD NEW TRAILS RUNNING IN AND OUT OF THE TREES. SORT OF LIKE AN OPEN COURSE. WHATEVER WE DO, HOPEFULLY WE CAN MAKE IT BETTER!

Other recommended trails in the same area:
THE PIRANHA PIT (MUD SWEAT AND GEARS RACE) IN HAVELOCK, NC. AND OTHER RANDOM ONES IN NEWBERN, JACKSONVILLE, SANFORD, RALEIGH, AND WILSON, NC.
