Trail is part snowmobile trail in the winter, but most of it is tight single track in pristine woods. hills are moderate, there are rocks, streams and logs which are fun. Take a big loop or a small one.

Trail Directions
In Old Forge, turn right following signs to Nicks Lake State Campground. Take second trailhead which has a parking area. Best bet is to get a topo map in town first. The area is bound by two rivers, so one can't get to lost. At the Southern end, either return on a loop to the parking are or wade across the river, and take road back.

Ridden Trail:
Every few months

Summary:
This is a great trail with lotas of variety. Some spots are easy rolling hills and then other parts are tight, steep hills with small drops and jumps. There are a couple of places where you have to carry your bike over some fallen trees. If you just want to have a fun, challenging afternoon, try out this trail.

Recommended Route:
I recommend the 5-mile loop around Nick's Lake. The best place to start is at the large rock in E-loop.

Summary:
Wasn't terribly impressed. Mostly generic wide trails in and around the lake. Rocks and roots thrown in. Nothing too difficult or attention grabbing. There is tons of potential out here for a serious trail network. They're just starting to work on it. Untapped for the most part. If your in Old Forge, stop in at PEDAL'S & PETAL'S Bike Shop. They are very cool and can hook you up with better trails and maps.

Recommended Route:
Around lake and some off shoot trails.

Ridden Trail:
Ridden Once

Summary:
The main trail is fairly boring, just keep your eyes open for smaller, less travelled trails off of it. These smaller trails are the essence of singletrack. Twisty, logs, roots, water, etc, etc. The loop around the lake is a lot of fun, many sections very rooty, great until you loose the rhythm. I'll be back again soon.

Other recommended trails in the same area:
Some trails near inlet have a lot of potential, not at Fern Park though, they are boring.
