Weekend Warrior Summary: not a demanding, little boring, not technical. takes 50 min to complete [ roller twice ], does not leave you wanting more. few nice sections. dry and fresh after all. worth doing few times a year. [ than u appreciate CP, GBekt, Stillwell..] Recommended Route: follow diamonds, double roller and hole. Other recommended trails in the same area: Eastport is similiar, more interesting but even further east.

Cross Country Rider Summary: Calverton is the perfect foul weather friend. When all the other LI trails are knee deep in the nasty brown stuff Calv is ready for a run.
It is my favorite trail to night ride on due to the miles of twisty tasty single track. In the winter when the ground is frozen solid, this trail is "way fast".
For added fun, ride on a Single Speed, this trail was made for it. Other recommended trails in the same area: Cathedral Pines, Rocky Point

Weekend Warrior Summary: No way would I describe this trail as highly technical. Yes, there are quite a few tight squeezes (good luck if you have wide handlebars and/or barends), and some sharp turns to keep your handling up, but the problem is that's all you got in terms of trail layout. You do have some descents and ascents that are good for introducing a beginner to mountain biking, but that's about it really.
Honestly, this one I find to be tedious. I hate to say it because I wanna appreciate all the trails on LI, but there it is. Limit your riding of this trail because you can quickly tire of it and potentially lose out on its biggest asset...
You see, when all other trails are muddy puddles, full of water, Calverton is dry. This trail drains like you wouldn't believe. That is this trails saving grace. When it's wet, that's when this trail really shines.
So don't ride it when other trails are nice, cause you will get bored of it way too quickly. Instead, hit it when the other places are sloggfests and you will trully appreciate this little gem.
BOTTOM LINE:
An excellent spot to bring your friends who are newbies: force them to handle tight turns and no chance of encountering mud.
WORD OF ADVICE: Watch the parking area as I've picked up ticks here numerous times. Check yoself and take precautions. Recommended Route: People go on about Roller Coaster, but I think Scuttle Hole is more fun. Therefore go through, hit all the Black Diamonds, when the second chance at Roller Coaster comes up, take it and work in another hit off Scuttle Hole. This'll make your ride much longer (cause you get additional hits of other black diamonds as well), but try to get the most out of the ride Other recommended trails in the same area: CP and RP are the closest worthy ones, but you're here because they're too wet.

Weekend Warrior Summary: Highly technical with some tight (and I mean hold-your-breath tight) tree passes.
Nice trail over-all with little roots that plagues Cathedral Pines making for some good riding without being bumped off my hard tail. Well marked and maintained making this our new favorite after Cathedral started charging for parking (imagine paying for parking on dirt???!)
