Onteora Lake

About a dozen miles of superb singletrack. Rocky sharkfins of slate. Lots of crags and pine. Scenic lakes. Some powerclimbs but not much elevation change. This system is within riding distance of another 20 miles at Jockey Hill. Overlook Bikes, Kingston Cyclery, and Tablerock Tours are good shops nearby for info/maps. Local bike club is Fats in the Cats.

Once a week

Summary:
I ride these trails several times a week, I can access them right across the street from my house via a short cut. They are very rocky with logs crossing them, some seasonal mud, and water. They are 90% single track, lots of ups and downs, but nothing real big. There are swamps, and a lake, boulders and lots of technical. They are peaceful, and not used very much.

Recommended Route:
Rt. 28 Kingston to Lake Onteora state park, on the right just before the Hobo deli.

Other recommended trails in the same area:
Jockey Hill trails can be access by crossing Morey hill, or by going Rt. 28 West, or Sawkill Road to Jockey Hill Road.
