Ridden Trail: Once a week

Weekend Warrior Summary: Today was the first time that I have been to this trail. I just got my DEC permit. I went to Eastport last week and was very unimpressed (will never go back there), but RP was awesome. The parking lot was full, so I thought that the trails would be packed, but they weren;t at all. I only was a few people and everyone seemed cool, no attitudes like you get at some places. There were some big puddles and mud from all of the rain on Friday, but other than that, the trails were in great shape and marked real well. Lots of single track, diamonds, hills and even some good intermediate trails. Some really good riding. I'll definitely be back. Recommended Route: Take the left fork out of the lot onto the main loop. It twists and turns up and down a small hill then takes you to a fire road where you can pick up a real good intermediate trail. It's a good warm up. The intermediate trail will lead you to a few good diamonds. Other recommended trails in the same area: This is pretty much the best trail close. Montauk has some good trails, but much further out and not worth the traffic this time of year.

Weekend Warrior Summary: Very nice, groomed trail. Well marked. Fast, twisty, turny much of the way, a lot of fun. Great trail for novices. Black diamond and double black diamond are not really that tough, just a few short, steeper climbs/descents and moguls and jumps. If you're an advanced rider looking for techy terrain you're not gonna find it here. But it's still a fun trail that can be made more challanging by riding faster. I'll definitely be riding there again when I visit family on Long Island. Recommended Route: We just followed the big loop starting from Rocky Point Road somewhere. I don't think you can go wrong with any part you decide to do. Get a trail map from the CLIMB website.

Weekend Warrior Summary: Granted this trail is a drive for me (lower westchester) I do admit it's worth the 1+hr drive out. The trails are FAST, Fast tight trails with humps all over. Highly marked trails, double diamonds once in a while that bring rollercoaster style action and is it me or do you ride through different "seasons" through-out the ride. That desert and sandbox are really beautiful. A bit of muddy conditions in turns after a rainy day which get annoying but overall the best fun with the best speed. No real difficult climbing, just fun fun fun! Since it's a big trail you won't really run into a lot of other bikers as often until you hit the parking lots. I'm planning to go out there again before the end of year. Recommended Route: Stay on the main loop and exit off any Double Diamonds. It's not as scary a terrain as the name makes it sound but definately a blast! Other recommended trails in the same area: Nothing else on LI really.

Cross Country Rider Summary: Everytime i go to this trail is feels like its getting bigger. last time i was there i stumbled accross a double black and it was great. my mistake was taking my n00b friend along... after the 5th mile he was in tears and after the 10th he was looking to bail. what makes this trail so great is the back drop if you live in the city this is a place to get lost in and ride your heart out. who ever maintains this trail gets 5 peppers it must be hard to maintain such a big trail but none the less my hats off to the team that makes it possible. when you get to the enterence you see alot of people either finishing or getting ready for a run but once inside you are all alone that should show how big it is. every once and a while you bump into a solo or a team either way everyone is very nice. there is an unspoken kindness among other riders that makes this sport so lovable. Recommended Route: from start to finish... you need to leave your tire imprint on every inch of trail... its a must!

Weekend Warrior Summary: ok, i'll start off by stating that I KNOW THIS IS NOT A CRAZY, HARD & TECHNICAL TRAIL... BUT: I love it! I live in Rocky Point and i've been riding this trail for about 9 years now, I've seen it go through many changes. Right now it's the best it's ever been. Very clean and senic, mostly flat with some short up hills along the way.. if you ask me, it's a work of art... I know the difference between more difficult trails and this one. I've ridden in Utah, Colorado, Up State New York ETC, but if you're looking for a good quick cardio workout then this trail is PERFECT!!! Recommended Route: THE ENTIRE TRAIL... Maybe not the West End Loop. everything else though, Diamonds and all.. Other recommended trails in the same area: we have Calverton, Cathedral Pines, The Greenbelt. I usually stick to RP..
