Grafton Lakes State Park

A wide avarity of trails available: from singletrack to rolling double track to turn of the century town roads. Some good downhills that laed to the adjoining Pittstown State Forest. Lots of rocks and roots!

Summary:
Good place to visit if your in town on business. This is a XC trail system, easy enough to take newbies for a ride in the woods, or if you hammer it, a great aerobic spin. All in all, I wouldnt travel too far, but its a nice riding area.

Recommended Route:
Its worth it to buy a map for 3 bucks

Other recommended trails in the same area:
If your in Troy, then this a easy place to go run out of the city and ride. If you have time, head up to SMBA in Saratoga.

Summary:
I don't get it? I have raced CC all throughout New England & NYS, This is a great place to ride! I think there may be some confusion on these tails and how to get around. To me Grafton SP & the Pittstown SF are, for practical purposes, the same place. When you go here you ride both trail systems. HUGE thanks to the MHCC for there trail building efforts. I cant understand why anyone would have an unkind word about this group. These trails and many more exist because of them. There are literally miles of new singletrack in the Pittstown SF because of the MHCC. Try these trails out, they wont disappoint. If they do, dont come back.

Recommended Route:
Spruce Bog-Chet Bell-Ward Hollow-RPI-Bonnie & Clyde-Zig zag.......... P.S. there are a few ways to get down to Pittstown SF. Get a map from park ranger. Have fun!

Other recommended trails in the same area:
Taconic Crest/Ridge, Spier Falls(aka Moroe State Park..another MHCC creation/enhancement), Skidmore(aka the Stables)

Summary:
True, these are not the finest trails in the area, but Mt. Biking is a subjective sport. If you are after bloody grueling technical trails, come here shortly after or during a rain and ride spruce bog and the trail around long lake. If you are looking for a workout, try the loop above. If you are looking for fast rollercoaster singletrack, it's not here, try someplace else. Riding the same trails get boring everywhere, I keep these ones in the mix though.

Recommended Route:
Spruce Bog --> Fire Tower --> Chet Bell/Ball (whatever) --> RPI --> Repeat

Other recommended trails in the same area:
Skidmore, Cherry Plains, Lake George, North Creek...

Summary:
DON'T BELIVE THE HYPE. The people who gave this place "amazing" reviews are either total newbies to the sport or are from that annoying, pretentious little area cycling club who think they are God's gift to mtn biking. You folks who take mtn. biking seriously know the great spots to mtn bike and this is not one of them.

Recommended Route:
It's mostly beginner stuff. Yeah, there are some avereage trails but not worth the trip. MUCH, MUCH better places to ride than here.
