Downhiller Summary: Pretty good mixture of riding. Nothing crazy or too challenging but still a lot of fun. No lift lines and getting to bring your ride into the gondola with you is cool. The trail map could be better. There only like 5 or 6 trails shown, but when riding you find quite a few more. I bet there's some good hidden stuff that the locals know about. Recommended Route: I think it was something like #6 south. A good long single track type run with some rocks and roots. Fun when you're riding at a decent speed.

, from Swain Summary: Very nice! The weather (73 and not a cloud in the sky last weekend)also helped. Nice variety of DH trails from highly tech (23) to blasting down open ski trails (9). Watch out for trail 4 unless you don't mind a little pedalling. I'm sure there are more trails not on the map. I didn't see any huge drops if that's the kind of stuff you're into. Recommended Route: Depends on what you like. Other recommended trails in the same area: Whiteface, but it's really steep and rocky at the top

, from ny Summary: Yes I just recomended going up the mountain on your bicycle, not the lift. Gore is exciting but its not the most hard-core of DH places. Save some dough, and ride to the top, riding an xc bike down is way more interesting too. Recommended Route: Hour of power to the tower: start at the base lodge, ride out to the left and follow the fire road up. That's right, up. The road goes half to the top of the mountain, then dumps you out under the old gondola line. Now follow the single track up to the top. If you hammer the whole way you can get the observation tower at the top in an hour. On the way down stay to your left, the sickest single track is on the north side of the mountain. Other recommended trails in the same area: West Mountain and glorious Plattekill are the places to go if you want serious DH riding. As far as XC goes, Garnett Hill is right up the road from Gore and is pretty good. No super long climps like hour of power but nice single track.

, from broadalbin, ny Summary: There are new trails at Gore!! There is riding for all abilities, but technical, freeride/dh is most common. You no longer have to pedal the long work road from the gondola to trails. Take The Hedges to the Saddle and your pick from there down. Unfortunatly, Wolf Pack and Harvey's are closed this season due to ski trail construction, but they'll be back. Durrant's Descent(the Downhill Course) is now legally open and sick as ever. Hook up with a local for some tips on trails. Be nice to the Patrol.
Recommended Route: depends
