Summary:
Steep and rocky. Trails were poorly marked. Extremely tecnical stuff. This place has tremendous potential with better trail marking and maps. The people working there were awesome - a friend forgot his chest protector and they just let him borrow one for the day, no questions asked.

Other recommended trails in the same area:
Gore, if they are open.

Summary:
Wow! West keeps getting better and better. There trails are great, not washed out and there is sick stuff all over the place. Large ladder drops almost to flat (still fun), a great drop off a boulder a really technical version of Plattikill's jump trail, awesome super steep stuff and more.

Logs are being cleared left and right and each time I go back new stuff is opened up. They do a great job marking trails here too.

Recommended Route:
There are two great trails to the left of the lift when you get off that have been cleared. One of them is directly to left of the lift while the other is farther over. Loggers messed up the area but it's being cleared and the trails are rideable. If you go off onto a super steep logging road, keep it up! It's fun. If you go right off the lift, take another right and you'll find the race course. This is a super fun, technical, steep course with small drops, awesome boulders to ride on, and some tough sections. If you go right off the lift and go into the woods about 100 more feet down the trail to your right you will encounter some really sick rock roll downs. Keep going and more great trails await. If you take a right off the lift and go about 200 feet down the trail hang a right and there is some great riding. Go straigt instead and head over to the right side of the mountain for some incredibly flowy riding. There is a huge rock drop but it wasn't ready last time I was there. There is a great roll down, a super fun ride accross a stream and then a dirt road to take you back to the lift. West rocks. Enjoy and have fun! If you go there reply with new stuff!

Summary:
Move over Platttekill, I've got a new favorite mountain. This place is sweeet!!! It's a hell of a lot closer (for me anyway) than Plattekill and cheaper to boot!! The trails are, shall we say....challenging. Not impossible, but challenging in a fun sort of way. They wooded trails consist of mostly technical to very technical NE style singletrack (rocks, roots, and mud). This is a great place to train for downhill racing. It will wear you out. The slow dbl chair lift will give you a chance to recover, though, on your way back up.

Recommended Route:
At the top of the lift hang a right, there's something for everyone. Loggers are harvesting trees to the left...unfortunately.

Other recommended trails in the same area:
Killington and Mt Snow for x-c riding; West Mtn is the place for DH!!! Four stars because of the logging and only being open on weekends.

Summary:
LOVED west, i wonder if all those all outdoors guys know they are sitting on a gold mine, eventualy i think this place will draw more mtb than skiers. Has alot of potential, could use a few more shooters down the ski trails incase you feel like giving your chattering teeth a break and you wanna get some breeze in your face. The trail are not extremely hard because the hairiest parts arent steep, but they are plenty hard to have fun, not sayin im superman, i go down at this place more than any other mountain i have ridden. These guys have the magic eye for spotting a flowy trail in the middle of some NE forest, not quite sure how they do it, alot of talent put in to making this place what it is, only negative is im not 21, and well....i guess you have to be to buy the beer there.

Recommended Route:
never knew what this meant??? trail, street????

gore, its alot faster and easier, nice place to have a relaxing day after west

Summary:
West Mountain does have some seriously sick terrain that me and my buddies were riding back in '92 when we were 12 on fully rigid bikes (Mongoose Alta, baby!)when you had to actually bike up the friggin thing. The new trails are great, and they also made for some good poachers during ski season.
Its really sweet to hear you guys giving my old hometown and mountain some serious props.
Razta, not to contribute to the continuous onslaught of insults that you have brought upon yourself, but are you some sort of idiot. Of course they are trying to make a profit! Let me let you in on a little secret that has leaked out to everyone else but you - it's called the ECONOMY. It runs on self-interest, i.e. business ventures intended to turn a profit. This wondrous phenomenon is likely to be the driving force behind the production of your bike, house, car, and the computer that you use to make yourself look stupid in front of the whole world wide web. DUH!

Recommended Route:
Bomb the Mach, watch out for water bars

Other recommended trails in the same area:
Skidmore Stables, any trails that Razta rides so you can kick him in the ribs when you pass him
