Skidmore College Trails

The entire area is pretty small, so the riding is limited, but there are many fun trails here. Mostly singletrack. Some technical spots, stream crossings, and boardwalks. Closed until June 1 for mud.

Trail Directions
There are many, but the one I use is at the end of Brower Rd. Get off exit 15 of I87, go west, then north on Rt 9. After about a mile turn left on Brower Rd. If you see the school on you left then you've gone to far. Park at the dead end of Brower and go to your right(behind new baseball field) look for single track on the left.
Trail Length
Probably 10 miles if you ride every trail

Intermediate

Summary:
Lots of trials to ride on, not all that long but very fun. The rocks and fallen logs make the ride slightly more technical, but overall the trails are pretty easy. I have a blast on these trails. There are some hills but only one that might give you a problem. Dont ride the trail if your just looking for a place to relax and ride. It's pretty easy to pedal but it gets your adrenaline going and its just all around fun.

Recommended Route:
I went to Brower Road first but saw the no parking signs, so I headed up to the North Woods parking lot on campus and rode from there.

Other recommended trails in the same area:
WEst Mountain, even though they charge $20 a day and $15 an afternoon.

Summary:
Lots of fun stuff in here. These are the trails that introduced me to mountain biking, and they're still my favorite. Loads of wide carriage roads, challenging climbs, fun descents, twisty, rocky single track, cool historic scenery (like the big old brick cistern and the concrete pedestal bases that date back to the 1800s). They used to hold NORBA races here back in the early 1990s, until erosion put an end to that. Definitely not for the tame-hearted, but not too extreme either. There is something here to please everyone. I've heard that Skidmore is considering closing the trails due to erosion, but I haven't been up there this season to verify that. If anyone can verify that these trails are still legally open, please post the info.

Recommended Route:
The North Broadway entrance is the one I always take, just follow Broadway out of town (heading North) past all the mansions and Skidmore, keep going until the road turns to dirt. There are 3 or 4 trail entrances at that point, 2 of which are exhilariting descents.

Other recommended trails in the same area:
Definitely the Daniels Road/Stables trails.

Summary:
Trail's for every level of ability but best for novice to intermediate riders.

Recommended Route:
These trails are known as just "Skidmore" or "Skidmore North"
Best Access route is to go to the north end of Broadway in the city of Saratoga Springs and enter from there or go to the North parking lot On the Skidmore College Campus and enter the trail from there. Cars parked there for a very long time will alert the police or security that there may be someone in the trail that needs help. so if you like riding alone, park somewhere where your vehicle won't be hidden. Happy riding!!

Other recommended trails in the same area:
Devil's Den (Daniel's Rd. or Stables)
