Cross Country Rider Summary: Agree with all that was written in previous reviews - except ask the locals. My group - 3 riders XC rides - were ashamedly teabagged (oops sandbagged) by some burly girl in full armor. Big drops, steep rollouts, fast singletrax, stout but fun trails. Trail markings are worthless as well as the map provided with entry. Considering a guided tour next visit just to get more familiar with the terrain. Also our mid 20 pound xc bikes were destroyed after five top to bottoms (disc failure, 3 flats, and rear derailure misfortune). We probably could have rebuilt the three to make 1 working model and taken turns, but these trails should not be ridden solo and the prospect of cold beer was just too appealing to pass on. Other recommended trails in the same area: Killington mtn, VT. well marked trails, ganjala lift service, and something for everyone

Downhiller Favorite Trail: Unholy, fun run, chute, Summary: Plattekill is very good. Actually, it is really good. Always worth the trip. Note to the management though. First, you have to start selling the staff T shirts to riders. Secondly, something has to be done about the hill of death. The new side of the mountain's dirt consistancy makes it really unmanagable when it gets wet. The new trails are not marked and not as flowing as the original trails. Don't get me wrong this place rips but the hill climb to the old trails is unexceptable. I am in it for fitness as well as downhill thrills but that f#$%!n hill makes me almost puke after the third climb with full gear on. Suggestions. run both lifts. Alternate which lift will be run which weekend. Have a shuttle from the bottom of the hill to the top. Install a tow rope or magic carpet. I know these are impracticle but something must be done.
Thank you Strengths: Fast, steep, technical and crazy Weaknesses: The hill from the new lift to the old trails. New trails do not flow. Marking of trails is sub par. Other recommended trails in the same area: N/A

, from Albany,NY Summary: Plattekill is a serious mtn for serious riders! I tink the new lift takes away the awesome plattekill I've come to know.
They are plenty of sick UNMARKED new trails to the left and right sides off the new lift. Plenty of awesome sick drops!
Problem is though, nothing is marked to indicate how the trail is rated. The trail map is useless, because it more geared to the old lift. Ask the locals were to go and they'll set you up with trails that will suit your riding style.
So, if you not a hardcore nut beware this place will hurt you bad. The more travel your bike has the more you will enjoy this hardcore mtn. Leave the cross country bikes at home!
Once they settle up the new trail map this place is almost unbeatable!
Look out for that..........DROP!
~peace~

, from New York City Summary: Outstanding, period. Some of the best riding in the northeast, and certainly the best in NY, rivaling much of what the "left" coast has to offer. A truly rustic experience as far as ski mountains are concerned, making it perfect for the mountain biker. Trails have been cut to perfection, with all levels of riding catered to. First visit was in the rain and cold close to the end of their biking season (late October, early November), the conditions were truly hazardous and we were taking them on hardtails... And still came away raving about the best day of riding in recent memory. DH, XC, and Freeriders... ENJOY!!! Recommended Route: ALL OF THEM!!! Other recommended trails in the same area: Hunter Mountain is ok, though not quite the mountain that Plettekill is. Also, when in Poughkeepsie, be sure to check out the Vassar Farm trails (reviewed elsewhere on this site)!
