Avoid these trails when they are wet? What are you a sissy? No wonder why Big D never rides at the Stables. It's ok to be scared of MM. Your mentor

Summary:
Thacher used to have some nice singletrack with a bit of climbing. You had to cross Beaver Dam road and follow the singletrack up the ridge on the Long Path. Unfortunately, it is now all logged. The singletrack has become a 15 foot wide skidder road. :(

Recommended Route:
None.

Summary:
great place to ride,
avoid the wet season

Recommended Route:
park at the "paint mine" or ride up to the top
of thatcher park (nice road climb)
follow the green paint marks all the way to the
doppler radar ball, at the top of the
first major climb you can see way off to the west,
some road riding required, but it fun tring to
make past the radar ball

Other recommended trails in the same area:
"the pits" plotterkill, the stables, the ridge trail

IF your a Hardcore MTB'r don't waste your time. Trails are wider than I90 and short as hell. Although, if your looking for a easy Sunday ride give it a try.

Summary:
Start with a trail map from the kiosk as some trails are off-limits to bikes. Multiple short hills that give you a decent cardio workout. The ride up the Long Path is a good climb. (Especially if you have been on the pizza and wing diet like myself) Keep trying the different trails in the park. There are some mildly rocky downhills, and one that is a stairway. Once back to the Paint Mine lot, take the 2nd right turn (gravel fire road) and go up the small hill until you see a building. Take the trail to the right before it. There's a sweet loose downhill ahead with a off-camber run-out. Make sure your over the rear tire for this one.

Recommended Route:
Park at the Paint Mine lot (park signs say this is the only entrace for mtb) and head up the fire road. This gives you good access to all trails. When you reach Beaver Dam Road (paved) go straight across and up the hill. (Long Path)

Other recommended trails in the same area:
Skidmore, Lake Desolation, Cherry Plains, Grafton, Colonie Park.
