Cross Country Rider Summary: There is only one legal bike trail in Harriman State Park. There isn'y anything exhilarating at his place, no significant elevation changes, and nothing technical about it. I ride here with my girlfriend to introduce her to mountain biking and develop her confidence with clipless pedals and getting over obstacles but soon she will be able to graduate from this place. This is not for an experienced mountain biker so just come here if you want to ride in the woods with someone new. Recommended Route: There is only one bike trail

Ridden Trail: Once a year

, from Brooklyn, NY Summary: Although this ride is no more than five miles long, it serves as a nice one-hour warm-up for Blue Mountain in nearby Peekskill, and is a lot more fun than you would think. Once you leave the fire road, there are lots of rocks and junk to deal with, and it twists through a beautiful forest. It's a shame that Harriman won't open up the park to mt. biking. There are tons of unused fireroads here that hikers never step foot on. In his Mountain Biking New York book, Michael Margulis included at least eight great rides, but when I attempted one about two years ago, I was promptly busted by park police. If I hadn't shown them the book with a detailed description of the ride, they would have fined me AND confiscated my bike. Recommended Route: Follow the previous directions Other recommended trails in the same area: Blue Mountain, Graham Hills, Stewart

, from NY Summary: There are NO LEGAL TRAILS in Harriman! The only riding you can do is on a weak carriage trail and it's short and boring. Recommended Route: None... Other recommended trails in the same area: Go to Blue Mountain in Peekskill.
