Lots of Single track. From biginer to advanced riders. Lots of roots and sand. Some hard up hills, and nice downhill. Enjoyable to ride for all skill levels. Just take it slow.

Summary:
It's a great feature that it connects two good trails. You can do just the Green Belt, or the option of riding Bethpage and/or Stillwell in the same ride. It may be a little confusing at first with the street corssings, but just try to follow the tire marks. And it is a little worn down, but it makes it more technical, and a better work out; it's nothing to be really be concerned about. Yes, it does get buisy on nice weekends from some of the locals, but just try to pay extra attention when you are going around sharp corners.
Basically, it can be riden by all skills. It's technical and a great work out at higher speeds, yet still very do-able for beginners. It has single & double track, hills, sand/rocks, fields (a little of everything). I ride a heavy Freeride bike there, and have no problem riding the trail.

Recommended Route:
Park near the Stop n' Shop. Ride a loop or two of Stillwell, ride south, down to Bethpage State Park on the Green Belt, and ride back. Great way to get a long work-out in.

Other recommended trails in the same area:
Bethpage State Park, Stillwell

Summary:
The Greenbelt is amazing - we take it to Jones Beach - you totally feel like you're not on the island, and it's totally safe. As for the upper portion near Stillwell, yea, it's eroded and sandy, but I still love it. The new Snake Loop is awesome. I've never experienced any crowding problems either.

Recommended Route:
From Elwood Road in Suffolk Co., take it into Nassau County, where it turns into Woodbury Road. Just before the Syosset Post Office, turn north onto Whitney Lane. Before the trussel, you'll find the Greenbelt Trail South to Jones Beach and Bethpage State Park. After the trussel on your left, you'll find the entrance to the Northbound Greenbelt, and Stillwell Woods.

Other recommended trails in the same area:
Stillwell and some good ones in Bethpage.

Summary:
I pretty much grew up riding this trail. Within the past few years, the surrounding land has been developed and huge yuppie mansions have been built throughout the area, which ruins the feel of being in the woods as you feel as if you're riding through their back yards. The trail is in terrible condition - erosion runs rampant on anything resembling an uphill or downhill. It's either hardpack or loose sand and large rocks. Never ride there on the weekend, unless you like hanging out with hundreds of mega yuppies who sport the race jersey that matches their bike and who know nothing about trail courtesy or friendliness. In other words, it's more like a fashion show than a trail. Get there by 6:30am on weekends and you'll be alright.

Other recommended trails in the same area:
Stillwell I guess, but it's not too great.

Summary:
This trail is like an old friend to me I do enjoy it every chance I get. I enjoy it from either direction I explained above. There is something for everyone here. I love to ride singlrtrack as fast as humanly possiable and my advise to anyone who feels the same is DON"T RIDE IT ON THE WEEKEND it packed and you will have a nasty crash if you like to speed.

Recommended Route:
You can start at bethpage over at Charles Campain Elemetary school if you want to ride the flats first if you like to warm up on flats. Or you can start fom Syossett an hit the hills first and have a blast climbing and decending through some decent turns.

Other recommended trails in the same area:
On the weekends if you still want to ride singletrack fast head over to stillwell woods it's one way and you can ride it as fast or as slow as you want. It's also a wicked hard singletrack and the only downfall to it is not having the skills to ride it. I have crashed here plenty of times and it's still mad fun.

Summary:
I grew up right in the area & I guess I've been riding the greenbelt since 1990. I wish I could give a more positive review, but sadly at this point the trail is at the worst shape I've even seen. It has always been a heavily traveled route, but now i wonder if we"ve killed it. Erosion is rampant, hills turned to dust, sand and roots. It's a shame, but i guess that's what happens when you have a highly visible trailhead like this. I have never seen such an ignorant, obnoxious bunch of riders as have been riding this trail the past few years. Trail courtesy is non-existant. Kudos to CLIMB for keeping it in the condition it's in, lord knows what it would look like otherwise.
it's a shame.
