, from Smithtown Summary: trail was ahh... (not the best) Actually it was my first trail with a mountain bike. I thought it was boring. but i guess you could make the best of it. if your on the westside of nichols ang go up the trail and head north their are home that the people aren't so pleasent. some deep sand area's towards the road. Recommended Route: Park at BJ's off old nichols rd Exit 58 of LIE north. Continue north too Bj's. Ride north on nichols past the powerlines. you'll see the trail on either the east or west side of nichols. If you wanna warm up go to the east side. if you wanna start fast & fun go to the east. But instead follow the powerlines up the hill till you see the trail on the right. there is a nice fast down hill. Other recommended trails in the same area: greenbelt (awsome)

Ridden Trail: Every few months

, from West Islip, NY Summary: One of the better trails on the Island. Hardly used and not really maintained. There is a section north of Motor Parkway that would be great if it didn't have all the glass on the big downhill. This downhill is excellent. I don't think I have ever gone faster on an offroad downhill. Its almost scary. Also, try the downhill under the power lines. You can get some major speed but be careful of the loose sand. It's the bitches that'll getches. Have fun. Recommended Route: Exit 58 of the LIE North to BJ's. Park in the BJ's lot and ride your bike to the trail entrance under the power lines. Other recommended trails in the same area: Rocky Point, Stillwell

, from babylon Summary: I have not had time to ride the entire trail, but it looks like it has some potenial. It was a little confusing as to where the glacier 8 loop begins and ends and where to pick up the greenbelt trail to sunken meadow. No one seems to ride this trail and it is wide open for new riders looking for something different, or just to get away from other trails that may be crowded. Recommended Route: park at the marriot or the medical building across from the greenbelt entrance on motor pkwy. Other recommended trails in the same area: Don't know of any in the immediate area.

Ridden Trail: Once a year

, from Smithtown Summary: I used to ride the hell out of this trail for 15 years. Glacier 8 is actually a tiny crappy off-loop from the Greenbelt. The Greenbelt trail goes from Sunken Meadow SP to Hecksher SP. South of LIE = flat & fast. North = ups & downs. Follow the white blazes. Sections like the "Everglades", "Rocketship Mtn" and "Satan's Hall" are in my hall of fame. Recommended Route: Take it from Mariott p'lot Other recommended trails in the same area: I think I've told you enough.
