Summary:
DO NOT RIDE HERE. THERE ARE DEATHS FROM FALLS OFF THE CLIFFS EVERY YEAR. DO NOT GO HERE IF YOU ARE IMMATURE OR INTOXICATED. BICYCLE RIDING IS NOT PERMITTED, this is State Forest Preserve and nature sanctuary, Steep cliffs, 300-400 foot drops off the edge of the hiking trails to the creek bed below, these trails are dangerous, every year people die. This area is also called Zoar Valley.

Recommended Route:
Ellicottville trails are 20 min to the south east are much safer, well marked and are maintained by the mountain bike club. Go there instead Here is the link. http://trails.mtbr.com/cat/united-states-trails/trails-new-york/trail/PRD_323568_4566crx.aspx

Summary:
If you come here, when its even a little wet, get some real tires! Wet roots suck with my conti DF slicks.
Also - stay the hell out of the Cattaraugus Creek, there's a nuclear waste dump 15 miles upstream. They say it's not a problem, but I don't believe anybody.
And remember, Deer Lick is a nature sancturary, so be good!

Recommended Route:
There a dozens of great trails to explore in the Zoar Valley area.

Other recommended trails in the same area:
Zoar Valley is probably one of the best kept secrets in New York State. I'm still searching for new trails, but even the roads require the gearing of a MTB.
