Simple trail, good one to take your parents or little brother/sister to. If you just want to get away for a day go get lost in the woods here.

Summary:
Chenango Valley State Forest has a lot to offer for all types of riders. Trails near the Main gates are mostly XC ski trails that can be fast you want them to be. As you get into the back country around the perimeter of the park you start running into some real technical areas. What is known as the gravity cavity and the surrounding trails are probably the most difficult with roots and rocks all over. The back section is full of turns that either send you straight downhill or into a steep uphill. Over all just about anyone can have fun here whether you're a beginner or an expert, out of shape or a top athlete.

Recommended Route:
Just picka trail and try not to get lost

Summary:
Of course everyone's tastes and abilites are different, but so is Chenango. Once you learn all the MANY trails available, you find that this place has almost everything, and one can tailor many styles of rides. From fast rolling fire roads to craggy, rocky/rooty, roller coaster single tracks, to LONG, technical, STEEP climbs. It is easy to get a really good workout in, and ride for 3-4 hours without repeating any trails! One thing not mentioned previously is that this place drains very well, so even after extended rain it is quite rideable and not very muddy. When one can't decide where to go in Central NY, Chenango is always a good choice, and is widely considered one of the premier rides in NY! But, bring your extra tube and leave the hardtail at home. If you find the right trails, you'll beat yourself silly!! ;-)

Summary:
Some real boring crap, and a few fun spots. Just wander around for a while, if the trail looks wide, try to find singletrack instead. Found some pretty tech/hardcore spots near the picnic area and golf course, although these aren't in the majority. Even found a good 6' drop to water hazard on the G O L F C O U R S E. (shhhhh....) A good change of pace when the other stuff gets boring. Oh yeah, Rocky Road or whatever will sure test your tech-ness.

Recommended Route:
Just get a map and cruise around

Summary:
Was lucky enouph to arrange a guided ride through clubmtb.com and put in about a 12 mile ride. Seemed to cover just about every type of riding from single track to logging roads would recommend suspension if you voyage to the outer limits of the park. Found problems with cheap rims. I split rear rim from "The Rock Garden" section of the trails. Technicallity was quite lame very few tech. sections.

Summary:
The only thing I'd like to add to what's already been said is that this is the only place in the area where hunting isn't allowed. Apparently you are allowed to hunt various animals in all of the good riding spots like Shindaghin, Oakley Corners, and Jenksville from Sept. 1 through Feb 28. It's a shame that it's really not safe to ride during this time of year. So I'm really glad there's at least one decent place to ride where one doesn't need to wonder whether they'll catch a stray bullet or not. Four stars because Oakley Corners IS better.
