Weekend Warrior Summary: I went to Cat-Pines for the 1st time less then a week ago from time of post. I LOVED it. It has a bit of everything for riders; climbs, downhill, single track, switchbacks etc. The diamonds are a must do for most riders. I really enjoyed this trail and it will become a regular stop. Milage of the main loop is short but add the diamonds and you get about 9 miles of good riding. It a GREAT Long Island trail! It could use a little more length though. Recommended Route: Include the diamond routes! Other recommended trails in the same area: Glacier Ridge, Rocky Point

Weekend Warrior Summary: This trail is a lot of fun. I'm fairly new to riding. I've been to a few other places and still enjoy the quick, energetic and beautiful trails at Cathedral Pines. I'm also not sure why so many have bashed this trail. I was first told by experienced riders about this place. Good, fun downhills with short bursts of uphill climbing.
What I like most is that I'm in and out in about 1 hour. Work up a nice sweat, then we're home in 15 minutes. Rocky Point is maybe 10 minutes away but more of a commitment timewise. Rocky Pt. is a very scenic route . Recommended Route: Do all the black diamonds to really extend the ride time. I've never been able to make it up "kitty litter hill", but the fun is in the challenge Other recommended trails in the same area: Rocky Point
Stillwell

Cross Country Rider Summary: this trail is perfect for the... person who just bought their mountain bike or someone who wants to take their young children for their first trail ride. as for an agressave trail rider you can pass this one up . the only good part about this trial is that it is very clean. if you are looking to raise your pulse by all means pass this one up and ride over to rocky point. other than that i was bored. Recommended Route: pass this one up and take the short trip to rocky point. Other recommended trails in the same area: Rocky Point!

Cross Country Rider Summary: The best kept trail on LI by far. If your looking to hone your skills this is the place to do it on LI. Warm up on your first lap and feel it on your second and third. Other recommended trails in the same area: Stillwell

Weekend Warrior Summary: This is a fun trail. This may have something to do with the fact that I used this as my learning trail when I first got started (so I gots some nostalgia built into it).
I think the pacing of this trail is really nice. It's not very technically challenging in the way of ridiculous rocks and roots, but it's got some nice tight turns, some narrow squeezies, and a few hills that'll take you by surprise you're first couple of rides. This is xc folks, don't expect to get use out of your freeride/DH bikes.
The first black diamond is super weak, I must say. Sure it's more challenging then the normal trail, but I think we're being generous labelling it as a black diamond (even by LI standards). However, I just love the first portion of the Border Line. Bombing down a stupid thin trail is mad fun. Thumbs up to the guys who cut that line.
Now for the bad news: don't even think about this trail after it rains. Seriously. This could be the worst trail for keeping puddles on the island. Let this one drain. Go elsewhere after it rains (don't be surprised if you must wiat multiple days).
Bottom Line:
For Long Island standards, a fun trail to ride.
You're a better rider and want challenge: get off the island. Don't ride where there are no mountains and expect gnarly climbs and white knuckle descents. Recommended Route: Hit all the Black Diamonds (you can potentially skip the first one) Other recommended trails in the same area: Go north and checkout Rocky Point, you'll love it if you like CP.
