Ridden Trail: Once a week

Weekend Warrior Summary: The swamp is great. I live in Skaneteles and its the best of whats around. It sounds like the majority of responses start at the Lodge Resturant/bar and go down into the swamp. The red trails are good but move to the heart of the swamp. Park at the south entrance and use the yellow trials to get to the blue and reds. Its really as boring as you make it. Pedal faster. And if you want excitment, climb to the intersection of Y9,Y5 and Y6(Memory a little hazy on this). Take Y5 and shoot down B3 and B1. This makes for a loop a couple miles in length and includes fast longer downhill with some rockgarden segments and some decent root hopping. I have bift it hard a couple times on the last steep segment on B1, you get moving and then relize there a log pyramid in muk followed by a bridge. The logs are cake but that damn brideg comes up fast and has a handrail, which really really hurts. Its actually the reason i bought a helmet. Im there about evryday, and its a shame that more people dont go. Other recommended trails in the same area: tell me please

, from Union Springs, NY Summary: Trail ok, fun, but not challenging and can get boring since its not a long trail. Upstate NY is not incredibly hilly and therefore any hills on the trail are just that - small. I have probably only ridden 60% of the available trails, which, to be honest, are not that many, so the other reviews could be hitting on something I haven't ridden. Bottom line is that if you want to ride in this region Bear Swamp is the only place to do it... so one must make the best out of this trail. Trail is suited to beginners as its not too rough, paths are wide and relatively clean and there are no really steep grades. For a beginner to intermediate trail I give it a 4/5. Recommended Route: Park by the cafe. Other recommended trails in the same area: No other trails in immediate area of which I am aware.

, from groton Summary: decent trails, not to technical but fun for all skill levels. there are a few tough mud holes and a pretty fast downhill on rocks and roots so be careful. watch out for the creek crossing. Recommended Route: any but i recommend parking at the bottom and getting the long hill out of the way first. go all the way to the sign in booth and start the trail here. Other recommended trails in the same area: not too close but shindangen hollow and jenksville

, from Seneca Falls Summary: It can be wet and muddy, but that just makes it more fun, right? In some spots there are bridges. Use them. If you don't, you will increase erosion, which may cause the trail to close to our use. If it is your first time riding, don't go here. On your way back to your car (depending where you park), you will go uphill. And this is a killer hill. It is long, but not too steep. Have fun. Happy trails. Recommended Route: Get to this place any way, just get here. Once you are here, go anywhere you want to on the trails. You'll have a blast, I guarentee it. Other recommended trails in the same area: A little bit farther away than may be too far is Gilbert Lake State Park.
