Azure Mountain Trail

Accent starts gradual the steeps with narrow hairpins. Tombstones and pinchers cover the trail with slick black mud. Riding up isn't really an option. Chances are you'll carry your bike up (I've never seen anyone bike it). At the top is an old fire tower which looks over the entire northern Adirondack mountain range. There are great views of Wface, Gothics, haystack, Marcy, and Algonquin. Biking down is pretty crazy in terms of tombstones, wetrock, mud and randomhikers looking confused as to what the f are you doing on a mnt bk on this freakin hill. Bad and steep. Just work your weight over the rocks. a little technical, but consistent. I've never seen anyone bike this mnt before but I've heard that people have done it. People will definitely think your twisted if you can manage it. I loved it. But it was short ( maybe an 1.5 hours up and down)
From South:
Drive north on rt 30 from Paul Smith College. Take left onto rt 458 until you see Blue Mountain Road (14 miles -I'm guessing from junction of rt 30) on left. 3-4 miles down Blue Mountain Road look for Azure Mountain Trail Head
From north:
Drive south from St Regis Falls on Rt 458 (7 mi) . Take right onto Blue Mountain Road . Travel on Blue Mountain Road 3-4 miles down the raod on right look for Azure Mountain Trail Head
Summary: This trail is on the St. Regis Conoe Area and is not open to bikes.
Recommended Route: Don't ride this, it is illegal and a popular hiking trail.
Other recommended trails in the same area: Whiteface ski lifts

Summary: Trail strarts of like it's going to be a gradual incline on bike. Then it gets steep and you can't possible bike it, because of the phatass rocks everywhere. It sucked carrying my bike, but it really was cool at the top, which took about 45 min. The views were sick. Downhill was a bit tricky. Had to walk a few spots. People were walking up as i was coming down. The people hiking were pretty scarry. It was like..."hey! pack the beer, pack the cigarrettes, and let's bring the kids hiking." I liked this trail, but you have to carry your bike to get to the sugar. Brakes are key.
Recommended Route: One way in. One way out. And it hurt coming out
Other recommended trails in the same area: The road that takes you to the trail head of the Azure mountain trail
