Mid Town

Average Rating:    (4 of 5)

Mid Town runs through a burn area and follows Fr. Road 289 - but on the north side. Trail crosses a fe dirt road spurs - ignore then for this ride - and eventually the ride concludes back on Fr. 289. There are some very unique features to this trail - much of it was involved in a fire a few years ago so you will be exposed. You also will ride on the pumice/volcanis soil. Look for the black shiny rock - obsidion (sp?) dotting the trail - really cool. This trail is best used a connector after riding Cross Town to take you to Carl Shipman.

Summary:
Look for dirt road to the left when heading east on 289. Ride to top of crest about 1/10 of a mile from 289. Trail starts out in former burn area and consists mainly of burned trees with grass. you will get a lot of sun in the first few miloes of this.

Trail goes back and forth and winds through what used to be a thick forest. Eventually it gets into some downhill and drops into some tight turns. You will cross dirt roads about 3 or 4 times.

After second to last dirt road crossing, you have to pass through fence with wooden ramp. Ride this through maze of trail, and cross dirt road one more time. You will end up out on 289 and Carl Shipman will be directly in front of you. Ride this!!

Recommended Route:
From west side to east for entrance to Carl Chipman

Other recommended trails in the same area:
Carl Shipman, Cross town
